Lee and Steve despise each other. They meet every day in the same place at the same time, and they hate it. Lee decides it's time to change things up.
Lee arrives at the usual time, but Steve is surprised to find he is not as grumpy as usual. Steve inquires,
"Why are you so cheerful?"
Lee replies, "I have this suitcase."
"Why is that exciting?"
"Because it has something special in it that is only mine."
Steve becomes upset. He has never been one to get jealous, but all this talk of others having things which he does not makes him feel very negative.
"Let me see what's in it," says Steve.
"No."
"Why not?"
"It's mine, and I don't want you to see it."
Now Steve is angry and curious. What could Lee have in the suitcase that he wants to keep all to himself? Steve is desperate to know.
"Give it to me!" Steve yells.
"I won't," says Lee.
Steve reaches towards Lee and tries to wrestle the suitcase away. Lee has been waiting for this to happen.
"Police! Help Me! I'm being robbed!"
Steve hardly has time to react before the police come and shoot him. Steve's body falls to the ground. Steve is dead.
Lee goes home, and is happy that Steve won't bother him anymore. When he gets home, he opens the suitcase and laughs. It was empty the whole time. He just wanted Steve to be gone.
The next day comes. Lee arrives at the place to which he always goes. Lee feels smug. Steve is not around to bother him anymore. 982Please respect copyright.PENANAIQRhEf6rwd
Minutes pass. Lee is alone. Hours pass. Lee is alone. Lee goes home. Lee is alone.
As he goes to bed, knowing the next day will be the same as this day, Lee thinks of one question.
Is it worse to know only enemies, or know nobody at all?
