A girl sits on a bench. Even I get tired, she thinks. I've been running almost an entire hour... She looks up from the ground. On another bench, a boy with white hair and ocean blue eyes looks at a phone. Why is he so familiar? I don't think I know his name...
They look at each other, only in quick glances.
Where have I seen her before? The internet? The boy thinks.
Have I had any conversation with him before? Maybe on Discord? Wait, no. Then I wouldn't know what he looks like! The girl thinks, fumbling with a leaf she saw on the ground.
The boy looks at his phone for a moment, then he hears a voice.161Please respect copyright.PENANAjarZ7IvRT9
"Um... Random question. Do I know you?"
He looks up from his phone. "I was going to ask you the same... What's your name?"
"I'm Emma! Remember that, okay?" She tells him, smiling cheerfully. "Now you tell me your name!"
Damn. I knew she was cute, but with her personality... What are you thinking? You just met her, and you already have a girlfriend! 161Please respect copyright.PENANA5vGqsUQ5o0
"Oh, uh... I'm Norman. Nice to meet you!" He tells her and looks back on his phone. Kind of disappointed I didn't know her. She seemed nice.
...
"Ya good, Emma? You're usually paying full attention to what your friends say. Emma?" A greenette waves her hand in front of Emma's face.
"Sorry, Gilda. I was just thinking about something..." She trails off.
"Ooh! Did you mean someone?" Gilda teases with a smirk on her face.
"N-No, it's no one! It's something!" Emma replies, practically freaking out. "Well, kind of... but I know what you mean by that! You think I like him or something!"
"Tell me about him."
"No."
"Please?" She sounds disappointed.
"Okay, fine. I thought I recognized someone. I don't know!" Emma exclaims.
"Did you talk to him?" Gilda teases again.
"He talked to me. Apparently, he recognized me too." Emma lies, now frustrated.
"Idiot. That's something out of a fictional novel or whatever." Emma's other friend says and looks up from his book. "It's not that easy to believe you; you make up stupid things sometimes."
"I believe her, Ray." Gilda states.
"You're a gullible idiot."
"Shut up!" Gilda hits his head with her hand. "She probably saw him on the internet! And the other way around..."
"You idiots are supposed to be studying or doing work." Someone from Emma's class says.
"Shut up. You're probably texting your boyfriend. Wait, hold up. Nah, dude, you're single."
"I'm aromantic, Ray! That's why I'm single!"
"Cool, but... When did I ask exactly?"
The brown-haired girl looks back down at her phone. "When did I ask if you asked?"
"You're way too dramatic, idiot," Ray mutters.
...
Emma sits down by a tree, tired.
Soon enough, she's sleeping.
~
"Silly... You'll catch a cold if you're sleeping outside in this rain!" He tells her after she wakes up.
"Huh... Oh... I fell asleep..." Emma looks up from the ground. "Oh, hi Norman!"
She looks at Norman, who has a confused expression. "Are you confused? Why?"
How did she read my mind like that? Whatever. "Y-you just woke up. You were out for a while. Now you just have energy?"
"I can do that... I don't know." She tells him, then shivers. "It's cold..."
"I would give you a hoodie or something, but I gave mine to my girlfriend... Sorry."
"It's fine. I wouldn't really expect someone I've only talked to for maybe five minutes to give me a hoodie..." She tells him. "And you have a girlfriend? Who is she- I mean, what's her name?"
"Oh, uh, her name is Olive. Not Olivia, Olive."
"That's a nice name!" Emma exclaims.
"Do you have a boyfriend?" Norman teases.
"O-Oh, no. Everyone thinks I like Ray, but I don't. I think Anna does, but she always denies..." Emma tells him. "You should meet my friends some time! Gilda, Don, Ray, Anna... They'd all like you!"
"Might consider it." He says. "Hey, if you want me to meet your friends, I need your Discord or your number."
"Oh. Here, send yourself a request. I'll send my number to you... some time." She lazily says, handing him her phone.
He types in his username and tag and sends a request. (i forgor how Discord add friend works sorry if he does something wrong)
"There." He tells her and hands the phone back. "I should go... My sister, Jade, is probably worrying. Goodbye!" (Ah Frick yeah Jade is in this fanfic AND as Norman's sister!)
Little did he know, Jade was watching them, all while texting her own boyfriend, Ace.

...
Norman steps into the doorway of his house.
The TV is still on, and Jade is watching some anime and eating sushi- in which she only has one roll left.
"Konnichiwa, Norman!" Jade says to her brother.
Of course, she said that. She always speaks in Japanese.
"Why were you talking to that girl?" She asks.
"H-Huh? Oh, Emma? We're just- Wait, how did you know we were..."
"Frick you, I have my resources," Jade says, with a tired voice. She yawns. "Can you finish this episode and tell me what happens in the morning...?"
"You can pause it?"
"Fine," She says after she finishes her last roll of sushi. "If you're out tomorrow, can you buy more sushi? Or mochi? You ate the last one, so I hate you."
"By the way, you and Emma... hmm...?" She teases.
"I don't like her! Besides, I have Olive!"
"Well... If Olive friendzones you... You're gonna go to Emma for emotional support, right? Not her arsonist friend."
"Who?"
"Her friend. Ray. He lit a house on fire, and I ship him with a camera. Has she said anything about Ray?"
"She did say he likes taking pictures."
"Like Basil!" She shouts. "Sorry, I watch too much Omori content on YouTube. And lose too much sleep. Damn, why can't it be on the switch yet?" She grabs the controller and pauses the anime, then turns the switch off. "Ugh," She groans. "Why won't the TV turn off with the switch? Everything would be better?" She complains as she walks up and tries to reach the TV's power button.
"I Give up! You do it! You're taller!" She says, grunting as if she were a child.
