The scientist ran through the halls of his home desperately flinging his things into a duffel bag, muttering as he did so. Grabbing a set of keys he swings aside the large painting in his living room and begins to unlock the iron door that leads to his secret laboratory. He didn't even bother replacing the painting. What was the point? They knew what was behind it already and the door wouldn't buy him much time. He had to hurry as the rain had already begun. The blood red drops were sliding down the living room window. As he descends down the stairs he curses under his breath. How could he have been so careless? Once he reaches his lab he begins to pack the rest of his notes into his briefcase. Grabbing a remote off the table he clicks the green button on it. The large garage door at the back started to open revealing a small covered dock where his boat was waiting pulling on his raincoat and climbing under the roof of the boat he starts the engine and drives into the night. Finally after driving for hours he reaches the coast
There on a small island was a large black and white lighthouse. After parking the boat he pulls out an umbrella but the rain had already stopped. They must have taken out the machine. Dragging his things into the doorway the scientist sighs leaning against the door frame. He stares into the darkness that is his new home. After a moment he stands up straight and drags his bags into the hallway. As he begins to unpack his things the scientists think about the mistakes he had made. Finally when everything is put away he takes his briefcase and heads to the basement where his makeshift lab is. After he puts all of his notes away he sinks to the floor, the exhaustion of the day finally taking hold. Running his hands through his wiry gray hair he sighs again as he rises from the floor. He must work and quickly. As he looks around the room he begins to formulate a plan. It has to work, he thought. He had no other options. He decided to work late into the night trying to fix his mistake
