I decided to follow Jaime's advice on how to read the signs of Cyr and I even decided to wear what she picked out for me. It's currently Saturday night and Cyr is supposed to pick me up for our 'hang out'. Me and Jaime didn't exactly discuss whether to call it a date or not if Cyr picked me up but I figured it's not a date since me and Cyr live pretty close by. I'm not sure how to wear my hair so I decided to leave it alone and throw on a matching black beanie. I thought i looked pretty nice in the mirror but who knows what Cyr is going to think. I told my mom that i'm hanging out with a new friend tonight so I hope she doesn't ask questions. Especially about how dressed up I am for a simple 'hang out'.
I heard the doorbell ring so I quickly shut my light off in my bedroom after I grabbed my wallet, phone and house keys then flew down the stairs. I ran up to the front door and answered it. I smiled when i saw Cyr. He is wearing a plain black button up shirt with white skinny jeans and black converse. I thought that he looked pretty cute and he is definitely wearing clothes out of the ordinary so that's the first sign of this being a date.
"Hey. You look nice." I complimented.
"Thanks. You look pretty nice too." He complimented back.
Second sign of it being a date.
"Let's hurry up and go before my mom catches us." I said as I walked out the door and was about to close it when my mom stopped me.
"Wait! I want to meet your new friend."
I sighed and pouted.
"Hi. I'm Jonah's mom." She held her hand out.
"Hi. I'm Cyr. I'm a classmate and good friend of Jonah."
"Jonah never mentioned anything about you."
I groaned. "Can we go now? Mom, i'll be back later."
"Alright. Fine. Have fun you two! Jonah, don't stay out too late now."
"Yeah. Yeah." I quickly walked away from my house.
"My mom is driving us to the Theatre. I hope that's okay."
I nodded. "Sounds good to me."
Me and Cyr walked over to his mom's car and got in. I thought that Cyr was gonna take the front seat and i'll sit in the back but instead, he sat in the back with me. This HAS to be the third sign of this being a date.
"Hi, Jonah. It's so nice to meet you. Cyr has told me all about you."
I smiled. "Really? Cool."
"What movie are you two going to see?"
"We haven't decided yet." Cyr answered.
I smiled as I sat there. Cyr's mom seems so nice. Much better than my own mom. And I noticed that Cyr smells so nice. He smells like....Christmas. I know that's a weird thing to say but it's true.
Finally, we reached the movie Theatre. I got out with Cyr.
"Have fun! I'll be back to pick you two up once the movie is over."
"Cool. Thanks mom."
"Your mom seems cool." I said once his mom drove away.
Cyr shrugged. "She's okay."
Me and Cyr walked into the movie Theatre.
"Wanna see The Hobbit?"
I nodded. "Yeah! I've always wanted to see that!"
Cyr smiled. "Me too."
This 'date' is starting to turn out really nice. Once me and Cyr got our tickets, we headed over to the snack area. We got in line and once we were up to the front, Cyr went ahead and paid for a large popcorn and a large drink. I waited to see if he was going to mention about sharing or not.
He turned to me and smile as he got out his wallet. "I hope you're okay with sharing."
I nodded. "Of course."
Fourth sign of this being a date.
We got our popcorn and drink and headed over to the room where the movie is playing. When we walked in, there were a lot of people but not a lot where it's suffocating and there's literately no seats.
"Wanna sit in the back?"
Fifth sign of this being a date!
I nodded with a smile. "Sure."
We both walked to the back and sat down. Cyr placed the drink in between us and held the popcorn bag ontop of his lap.
So far, there has been FIVE signs of this being a date. That has to mean that this is a date! If this isn't a date, I don't know what this is.
The movie eventually started and me and Cyr quietly ate our popcorn and shared our drink together while we watched the movie. All seemed okay and I was pretty happy to know that this might be a date. That's when something happen that I didn't think would happened or that me and Jaime didn't discuss last night.
Cyr grabbed my hand and held it.
I glanced over at him to see his expression. He seemed pretty content. He caught me staring at him so he smiled and I smiled back then focused on the movie again. Okay. This definitely has to be date. Two people who are just hanging out with each other DON'T hold hands.
Once the movie was over, me and Cyr stayed in our seats while we watched everybody get up and leave before getting up ourselves.
"That was a good movie." He commented.
"Totally. It was amazing. I can't wait to tell Jaime about it."
Cyr was still holding onto my hand as we walked out of the room. "Do you feel like going to get a shake or something?"
I nodded. "Sure."
Cyr nodded then fished his phone out of his pocket while still holding onto my hand. He opened it up and dialed a number.
"Hey, mom. Me and Jonah are going to get a shake right now. Is that okay? Okay cool. See you later." He hung up.
"Let's go treat ourselves." He grinned at me.
I smiled.
***
"I definitely wouldn't mind owning The Hobbit on DVD." I said as I sat across from Cyr at a small table in a bakery.
"That good huh?" He asked as he took a sip of his drink.
I shrugged. "I really like it."
I watched Cyr for a minute before speaking again. "So...what's going on? Like, what's going on in your life?"
Cyr sighed and looked away.
"You can trust me. We're friends aren't we?"
Cyr nodded. "I live with my mom and little sister. My dad isn't in the picture because he didn't want me or my sister. I don't really like him or get along with him." He explained.
"If you don't mind me asking...why are you holding off on dating me? Is there a specific reason?"
Cyr nodded. "I got hurt once. Really badly. It was messy. I was glad when mom announced we were moving because I got to move away and start over at a new school. I got to forget about my past."
I nodded, understanding.
"I'm sorry. It's not fair to you. I trust you." Cyr looked at me and grabbed my hand.
"I guess I just don't trust myself. I guess i'm just terrified of myself. So don't think this has anything to do with you because it doesn't. It's just me being an ass."
I smiled. "You're not an ass OR a jerk. Everybody gets hurt every now and then."
Cyr smiled. "Thanks. I felt really bad when I hurt you. I know how it feels to be rejected. That's why I wanted to make it up to you by asking you out."
I blinked my eyes. He said the words 'asking out'.
"So...is this a date? Jaime told me to not ask you because it might freak you out."
Cyr chuckled. "Chicks." He said, rolling his eyes. "It's a date if you want it to be."
I blushed then looked down. So..it IS a date.
"You know, you're really cute when you blush."
I blushed deeper. "Stoooop." I whined.
Cyr chuckled then leaned over and kissed my cheek. I smiled and blushed more.
***
"It was nice meeting you, Jonah." Cyr's mom said.
"Nice meeting you too." I said.
"Want me to walk you to your house?" Cyr asked.
I shook my head. I didn't want my mom or any of my other family members to see. They'll definitely know something is up.
"I'll see you Monday." I said then started to get out when Cyr pulled me back.
"Wait." He said then kissed me on the lips.
My eyes widen and I quickly pulled away. I started to blush again. "Cyr...your mom." I whispered.
Cyr chuckled. "It's okay. She knows i'm bisexual. She's cool with this."
I smiled and nodded. "Bye." I said.
"Bye."
I got out of the car and waved goodbye then walked up to my house. I got out my key and opened the door then walked inside and shut it. I sighed happily before going up to my room. I plopped down on my bed and stared up at the ceiling.
"Best...date...EVER!"
