"How?" I asked, my curiosity piqued by Steel's unexpected suggestion.
With enthusiasm, Steel began, "So, I've been watching this show called Transformers Prime. In one episode, the young human boy Raf got infused with dark energon. To save him, they had to flush it out with normal energon."
Nate's skepticism chimed in, "What does that have to do with our situation, Steel? It's just a show, not reality."
Steel persisted, "I know, but it sparked an idea. Maybe, in a similar way, we can flush out the corrupted Morph X with the good one."
Zoey interjected, "We've already attempted that."
Steel clarified, "But have you tried introducing it directly into Kali's bloodstream?"
The idea hung in the air, prompting exchanged glances among us. "Nate, could it work?" I turned to him for insight.
He considered the proposal, hesitating before responding, "Well… maybe. Using liquid Morph X on a living creature, especially a person, is uncharted territory. I have no clue about the effects or if it would even be effective."
The Commander's practicality interjected, "Run some preliminary tests first. Assess its impact on living organisms before taking any undue risks."
Dr. Oliver agreed, and Nate and I immediately set to work. Days turned into nights, and the tension in Grid Battleforce's lab was palpable. Nate and I meticulously carried out tests on the liquid Morph X, observing its interaction with various organisms. Each result brought a mix of hope and apprehension.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, we gathered our findings. Approaching the team, Nate's voice carried a mix of excitement and caution, "We've run extensive tests, and while we can't guarantee the outcome, it seems introducing the good Morph X into a living organism isn't immediately harmful. We can't be certain about its effectiveness in reversing Evox's corruption, but it's a chance."
Zoey's expression turned hopeful, her voice a blend of determination and anxiety, "So, are we willing to take that risk?"
Our Commander nodded, her eyes unwavering, "We're Rangers. We're not strangers to risk. If this might save Kali, then we'll proceed with caution."
Dr. Oliver's presence added gravity to the decision, his steady gaze on us, "I've seen firsthand the unpredictable nature of these situations. Sometimes, it's those leaps of faith that make all the difference."
With agreement reached, we set the plan in motion. Nate and I meticulously prepared the liquid Morph X, ensuring its purity and stability. The liquid glowed with an inviting, vibrant energy, symbolizing our hopes for Kali's redemption.
Kali’s perspective
"Kali," the Red Ranger spoke gently as he stood outside the cell, "we might have a way to save you."
I looked up, skepticism and annoyance in my voice. "You're really going to keep trying? Just give up. Nothing will stop me. I’m loyal to Evox. "
The Red Ranger shook his head, offering a faint smile, "You're my best friend, Kali. I won't give up on you."
I know, Dev. You’re my best friend, too. I just wish there was more I could do to help.
"After lots of testing, we decided liquid Morph X might be able to counteract the corruption," he explained, hope lacing his words. "It's a risk, but we're ready to try."
"And if it doesn't work?" I scoffed.
His voice was steady, determined, "We'll find another way. We…I won't stop fighting for you."
He shot another tranq dart into my arm and I passed out.
Devon’s POV
I took a deep breath as the guards unlocked the cell. I silently prayed this would work as I picked her up and carried her to the lab. I gently set her on the operating table as Nate finished getting set up. We gathered around her and Nate carefully injected the Morph X into her through an IV, monitoring her vital signs very closely. Her skin shimmered as the liquid entered her bloodstream. The room held its breath, every second stretching into an eternity.
A few hours passed with nothing bad happening. When Nate did his latest check on the amount of corrupted Morph X still in Kali’s body, he turned back to us smiling. “I’m not seeing anything! We’ll have to wait until she wakes up to know if it really worked or not though,” he explained. I smiled and nodded, a renewed hope flooding over me.
Kali’s POV
A surge of energy rippled through me, unlike anything I'd felt before. It was as if a warmth spread through my veins, dispelling the darkness that had held me captive. I could feel the tendrils of corruption loosening their grip, the darkness that had clouded my mind fading away. Friends and memories flashed before me, igniting a fire within—a determination to reclaim who I was.
With a gasp, I opened my eyes, met by a sea of expectant faces. Devon's was the one that held my gaze, his eyes reflecting his anticipation. "Kali?"
My vision cleared, and I could see Devon watching me, concern etched on his face. "Kali, are you alright?" he asked, his voice laced with hope.
I blinked, taking in a deep breath, and for the first time in months, my mind felt clear, as if a fog had lifted. Devon's smile was brilliant, a reflection of his relief. My surroundings seemed to shimmer. The room itself seemed to resonate with energy, a harmony of Morph X and the life it imbued. I felt a sense of completion, as if the last remnants of corruption were purged from my system.
Tears welled up in my eyes as I sat up and immediately hugged him. "I'm so sorry, Dev. I remember everything…I-I….”
“Hey, hey. It’s ok. Don’t worry. All that matters now is you’re safe,” he said gently as he hugged me back.
A collective sigh of relief swept through the room as the team's expressions transformed from concern to joy. As I stood, a newfound strength surged within me. I locked eyes with Devon, gratitude and determination evident in my gaze. "Thank you."
Devon's smile was radiant, his voice filled with emotion, "Welcome back, Kali."
