Alexandria never felt peaceful in her class; her classmates looked as if they felt the same sentiment. When Elliot taught his class, no one wanted to participate or feared being chosen. The Professor enjoyed embarrassing students and making them feel inferior. Although Alexandria wasn't afraid of him, she was always rigid and vigilant. Her body would tense whenever she was called or to be always prepared.
With Professor Hart, he was patient and understanding. He made the students feel that their input and ideas were valuable. Whenever a student made an error, they would shiver in fear, but the Professor would assure them that it was okay to make mistakes.
No one was perfect.
The class went on in peace, and everyone enjoyed themselves. "Alright, everyone. Your homework is to read pages 110-120. Please write a short two-page essay about the case and discuss what techniques the lawyer used. This is due by midnight. Dismissed."
Everyone in the classroom began to pack their belongings and head out. All students thanked the Professor or asked more questions about the assignment. Alexandria still sat in her seat, watching Professor Hart communicate with the students. She couldn't help but admire him and how kind he was. Throughout the class, the young woman had some difficulties paying attention. Although Richard was good-looking, his personality drew her to him. Yale had stern and strict Professors; many hardly smiled or looked as motivated to teach.
Richard was the opposite; he wasn't afraid to express his positive side. "Alexandria?" Richard called out the young woman.
This brought her back to reality. "Huh?" Alexandria looked around and realized she was the only student in class left. "Oh, sorry about that. I tend to doze off."
The Professor chuckled. "Really? I hope my lecture wasn't a bore," he said while packing his textbook and paperwork.
Alexandria stood up from her seat and packed her folders and papers. "N-No, not at all. Your lecture was understandable and a joy to learn. The thing is, I have a large imagination and I tend to become thoughtful." The two finished packing, but neither moved. Richard looked at Alexandria, but she looked away. "What the heck is wrong with me? He must think I'm weird."
"May I ask you something?"
The student looked at Richard, who looked concerned; she wondered if she had done anything wrong. "Uh, yeah, sure."
"While teaching class, I noticed how tense everyone was. Most of the students looked afraid to answer my questions and always apologized if they got a simple mistake. I remember you mentioning your absent Professor and I wondered if he makes everyone feel tense?"
"Yes. Everyone here fears him. The Professor is a narcissist and enjoys destroying students's self-esteem."
Richard heard stories from other Professors about Elliot, and the way they spoke about him was out of fear. "I see. Have you or any other students contacted the Department Head to complain?"
"Yes, but nothing has been done. I feel that even the Department Head is scared of him. Professor Landon was a pretty good lawyer, and since he won many cases, I guess the higher-ups are afraid to do anything due to his reputation."
Richard raised an eyebrow at her hypothesis. Her intelligence impressed him, and he believed Alexandria had researched her Professor. "You are very well-informed, and the way you speak about him. I assume you don't have a respectable outlook on him."
The student shook her head. "I must tolerate him since he is my Professor, and I need this class to graduate. He is nothing more than a bully who wants power, and I refuse to be afraid of him."
The two looked at one another but heard students outside the classroom door; they waited for their Professor to arrive. Richard motioned Alexandria to follow him out, and she happily did so. As they walked out, a line of students held their belongings and eyed the two. The female students eyed Richard with interest and lust; Alexandria couldn't blame them. The man was a sight to behold, but she couldn't help but feel a tinge of jealousy. Many female students wouldn't hesitate to sleep with Professors out of lust or gain something in return. They walked away from the room and to the hallway, where they wandered. "You seem to be strong-willed. I also noticed all the notes you have written. You prepare yourself each time you have this class." He noticed Alexandria blush; he thought it was adorable. "Don't be embarrassed. I find it admirable, and I have a hunch that you are not fond of Elliot."
The two laughed and stopped walking. They stood close to the quad area where many students sat on the green grass, being lively to one another. "Well, it was nice to have you in class. I will see you on the next one." Alexandria was about to walk away, but Richard cleared his throat, making her stop. "D-Did you say something?"
"Well, I was about to. You see, I have a lot on my plate and it's taking too much of my time. Could you help me input grades and review some of my lesson plans? You could use this as an internship experience, and I would happily be a reference whenever you need me. What do you say?"
The young woman's face became so warm that she felt her face turn red like a tomato. She was surprised that he would ask her for assistance. She would usually reject any other Professor since she felt weary and cautious. However, she felt ashamed that she would think differently with Richard, but he looked and felt trustworthy. It would also allow her to know more about him. "Um, sure. When would you like me to help you?"
"Tomorrow at 3 pm. Would that work well?"
"Perfectly. My last class ends at that time."
"Perfect. Meet tomorrow at the library. My office is here and ask them of my location. I will see you then." Richard walked past Alexandria as he waved her farewell. Alexandria did the same and felt happy and excited that she could have more alone time with the handsome Professor.17Please respect copyright.PENANADTfq2JiwL3
