Alexandria finished bathing and dressing herself and then remembered that she would meet Richard at 3 p.m. She went to the living room, where her friends were already awake. They said their good mornings, and Alexandria decided to cook her and her friend's breakfast. Jenny wanted to help, but Alexandria wouldn't have it. "You guys are my guests, so I will cook for you guys. Besides, see this as a thanks for motivating me to go to the party."
Jenny exited the sofa and went to her friend, wrapping an arm around her. "Aww, that's what friends are for! Besides you needed time to go out. Although, it would have been nice if you got laid!"
Max slowly sat up from the soda and looked at Alexandria and Jenny, shaking his head. "Babe, you need to stop being blunt. Alexandria knows what is good for her."
Alexandria returned to cooking and thought about the last time she had been intimate. She had one serious boyfriend that only lasted for a year, but her ex was her first experience, and it wasn't a good experience since he only lasted five minutes. Alexandria always thought that sex was pleasurable, but her first time was painful, and when trying again, there was some pleasure. Ever since the breakup, the young woman hadn't tried again, but she learned how to masturbate. There was some pleasure in masturbation, but it wasn't the same.
Some men were interested in taking her to bed, but Alexandria wanted to have sex with someone she had feelings for. Jenny and Max even suggested a threesome one time since they were still in a polyamorous relationship. She thought it bizarre that a couple would go and sleep around with other people. Their offer was rejected, but the trio became friends, and Alexandria didn't judge their lifestyle. After cooking breakfast, the trio ate peacefully while having a conversation.
When everyone finished eating their breakfast, Jenny and Max got dressed and went on their way. Alexandria had more time since she had to go to Yale's library to work with Richard. Her heart beat rapidly whenever Richard came to mind, and Alexandria couldn't believe she was thinking about a Professor. A sigh escaped her lips, "I need to go out before going to the University's library." Alexandria left her dorm and decided to go to the bookstore Noble Books, where a coffee shop was located.
It wasn't too far, and once inside the store, some people were looking for books or were in line for coffee. Alexandria went to the mystery-crime section to see if new books were on display. She got to the section and began to look for any book that caught her interest. While looking, she heard footsteps coming behind her. Alexandria ignored them since many were also looking for books. "Alexandria?"
The young woman froze; the voice sounded familiar, and her heart beat rapidly. She slowly turned around, and there he was. "P-Professor, Richard? What are you doing here?" Richard had the beautiful smile that Alexandria loved. He didn't wear his professional clothes but a simple black T-shirt with a black jean jacket on top, dark blue jeans, and black shoes. His hair was slightly messy, which gave him a bad-boy vibe.
"Good morning to you too, Alexandria. I like coming here on the weekends to relax or do some work. I wanted to come here to drink some coffee and get some books to read. I presume you came here for the same thing?"
Alexandria tried hard not to blush, but it wasn't easy. "Y-Yeah. I wanted to see if I can find anything new before going to the library."
Richard saw that they were both in the mystery-crime section; he chuckled. "Wow, you're more into the mystery-crime scenery. If I can be blunt, I thought you would be more into the fantasy and romance genre."
"I get that sometimes but I do enjoy a sense of suspense. I do enjoy reading books from retired law enforcement or lawyers since they have experience in the field. These types of authors make their books more realistic. So, uh, what about you? What kind of genres do you like?"
Richard massaged the back of his head. "Well, I am more to historical fiction and...romance." He noticed Alexandria's surprised expression. "I know. How could a man like romance books."
"I'm a bit surprised but I actually find it refreshing that a man admits to liking romance. Many men would think it isn't manly."
"Yeah, I know many men that like reading romance stories, but they keep silent about it. What I like about romance is that it gives you a world that one vies for."
Alexandria tried not to show it, but she was surprised by his answer. 'A world that one vies for.' It made her wonder if Richard vied for a relationship or something more. "M-Maybe there could be a possibility that..." She stopped herself from thinking that far. "That is an interesting perspective. You're the first man that I heard say something like that. It's admirable." The two stood silent as more people entered the bookstore; Alexandria felt awkward. "W-Well, I won't get in your way. I guess I will see you later." She was about to walk toward another section but felt a hand on her arm.
"Wait."
"Di-Did he just grab my arm!? Holy hell!" Alexandria slowly looked at him. "Y-Yeah?"
Richard slowly let go of her arm. "Since we're both here, we could get more acquainted before beginning to work together. It would break off the tension. What do you say? Coffee will be on me."
It was hard to grasp what Richard asked for to get acquainted. Alexandria wanted to squeal out of excitement, but it took her willpower to stop. "Sure, that would be wonderful."
