Alexandria never thought she would be in a law enforcement building and was nervous about what would transpire. After the phone call, Quinn was asked to leave since Alexandria had to run another errand. Now, standing in front of the building, Alexandria had many questions; Rose mentioned that someone was watching her.
It made her skin shiver to think of someone watching her every move. "Might as well get my answers." The young woman entered the building and saw a few officers here and there and many people waiting to be called. When going to the front desk to ask for Detective Rose, the workers informed her that the Detective would be notified. Alexandria was instructed to wait until the Detective's arrival.
Eight minutes later, Detective Rose arrived and saw Alexandria looking at her phone while waiting. "Alexandria Graham?"
"Huh?" Alexandria looked up and saw the older woman; she looked good for her age. "Yes, that's me," she said while standing up.
"I am Detective Rose, the one who called you." Rose motioned her hand to Alexandria, who looked hesitant but eventually shook her hand. "I know this must feel awkward and concerning to you, but you will have all your answers. Please follow me." The two women entered the building until they arrived at the Detective's office. The office was well-kept, but a few piles of paperwork were on the desk and in the other cabinets. "Apologies for the slight mess. I tend to have a lot of paperwork to do."
"No worries, detective." Alexandria sat down while looking at the office.
The Detective couldn't help but glance at the young woman who admitted she was beautiful. "Would you like anything to drink?"
"No thank you. I think you know what I really want."
Rose nodded as she sat behind her desk. "I see that you would instead get to the point. Understandable. Now, I am sure that news spread about what is happening with Professor Landon and that you were informed about it."
"Yes, Detective. My friend came by today and showed me online. It was a shock but I don't understand why I am needed."
Taking out some documents and a pen, Rose eyed the young woman. "What is your relationship with Professor Elliot?"
The question was unexpected.
Relationship?
"He's just my Professor. I will be honest, my classmates and I don't have a positive outlook on him."
"Why is that? Is he strict in his teachings?"
Alexandria sighed while crossing her arms. "You can say that, but it was more than that. The way he taught his lessons made it look like the Professor wanted his students to fail. It also felt that he enjoyed making his students fail and be miserable."
"So, Elliot enjoys making his students suffer, but judging the way Alexandria speaks and sits, she holds confidence. I wonder..." Rose looked at the documents in her hand; the documents contained Alexandria's grades. She had good grades, and when looking at her grade in Elliot's class, she had a solid A. When looking at the other students' grades, they had Ds and Fs, making Alexandria stick out. "What I see here is that you're the only one in the class who is passing."
The young woman raised an eyebrow; she knew that many of her classmates struggled in Elliot's class. She didn't know that they were failing; realization hit her. "Wait, are you suspecting that Professor Elliot and I are..." Alexandria couldn't help but feel offended.
The folder was put down, and Rose sat rigidly on her chair. "I can see that you have a sense of integrity, Alexandria. You must understand my position. Professor Landon is suspected of killing his wife and he mentioned you in his private time."
Alexandria was confused, but a part of her suspected that her Professor eyed her differently than the others. A thought lingered in her mind. "What do you mean by 'private time'? I feel that you're keeping something from me. When you called me, you also stated that I was being watched."
"Look, I don't know, and you don't know me, Alexandria. Through our discussion, you showed that you are honest and sincere and that you and your Professor have nothing going on. What I meant about you being watched is that there's the possibility that Professor Landon put cameras in your home."
"E-Excuse me?" Alexandria violently flinched while processing what she was told. "H-H-How is this e-even possible!? Professor Elliot doesn't know where I live and let's say I believe you. How do you know that he put cameras in my place?"
Silence reigned. Rose looked at her computer and slowly faced it toward the young woman. "I will be upfront. I am doing something that will cost me my career and be sued to kingdom come. However, Professor Elliot is dangerous, and I believe he has an unhealthy interest in you. Have you noticed the way he speaks or treats you?" Alexandria didn't answer; she was still processing the news. Rose couldn't blame her, and she continued. "Look." Rose played a recorded video when Elliot returned home after their third interrogation.
Alexandria paid attention and couldn't believe what she witnessed. Elliot was stabbing the sofa and pillows with blinded rage. It was frightening to see. "How did you-?"
"As I mentioned, I'm doing something illegal that even my superiors don't know. I asked someone to put cameras in his home without a warrant or permission. The reason is because he is highly dangerous, especially since he is a lawyer. Keep watching."
The video then showed Elliot in his study watching his laptop. Alexandria could make out some sounds and heard herself and Quinn; her eyes widened. "What the hell. He was...spying on me? How did he-?"
"I know this is a lot to take in, and I'm sorry to dump all of this on you. Elliot is far more dangerous than we both could have imagined. He may also have dangerous connections and skills, henceforth knowing where you live. I am getting another warrant to search his home and online history to show his guilt. I am getting close to gathering evidence to put him on trial for his wife's murder."
Alexandria couldn't stop looking at the screen and Elliot's image. Whenever teaching class, Elliot always looked arrogant and proud. Seeing Elliot's other side, it was nothing more than insanity and violence. "Am I the motivation for him killing his wife?" Guilt overwhelmed her, and it made her feel like a murderer.
The Detective observed Alexandria and softened her expression. "You feel guilty, don't. Elliot is a narcissistic sociopath who killed out his unrealistic fantasies. You have nothing to do with what he did; if you don't accept that, it will destroy your consciousness. Now, since there are cameras in your home, it's best if you stay somewhere else. If you return to your place and pack, I fear Elliot may try to do something that will make him destroy evidence. I will contact you about any updates. Understand?"
"Y-Yeah." Alexandria stood up and walked out of the office. Dread and fear overwhelmed her, and she thought about her Professor spying on her. How long was he spying on her? Her eyes widened, and she realized the possibility of spying on her in her most explicit moments. She wanted to cry in disgust. Going home was out of the question, and she considered her options. Going to her friends was an option, but they didn't have much space in their flat, and Alexandria didn't want to intrude.
There was another, but Alexandria wanted to talk it out. She got her phone while walking out of the station. The phone rang until there was an answer. "Hello?"
"Hello, Professor Richard. I need to talk to you again. It's an emergency."
