Over the past few weeks, our team faced multiple challenges, each test pushing us to our limits. We encountered Captain Chaku, who was battling Ryjack. Captain Chaku explained that Ryjack's true aim was to steal the Legendary Ranger Weapons from the Ranger Vault. To level the playing field, Chaku's superiors sent his battleship, the Reptilobeast, to aid us in future confrontations with Ryjack. Commander Shaw, impressed by Chaku's dedication, offered him a position at Grid Battleforce once Ryjack was defeated, an offer he eventually accepted.
Captain Chaku got settled into his new quarters with assistance from Ben and Betty. However, their curiosity led to a mishap with an alien plant, nearly swallowing them whole until Captain Chaku intervened. Alone, Chaku made a heartfelt call to his daughter, revealing the sacrifices he made for his duties, unaware that Nate overheard the conversation.
Concerned for Chaku's well-being, Nate and I confronted him, urging him to confide in the team. Reluctantly, Chaku revealed his cyborg nature, a result of his duty, and expressed doubts about his daughter's acceptance. Despite Nate's reassurances, Chaku remained skeptical. As tensions rose, we detected Ryjack's assault on the Ranger Vault. Descending into the tunnels, we confronted Ryjack and his forces, engaging in a fierce battle. Despite our efforts, Ryjack proved resilient, even resorting to a mysterious device of ancient origin to transform into a giant.
Undeterred, we rallied our Zords, facing Ryjack in an epic showdown. With the combined might of our Ultrazord and Captain Chaku's Reptilobeast, we vanquished Ryjack, securing victory for Coral Harbor. In the aftermath, Nate devised a plan to remove Chaku's cybernetic enhancements using the same device that gave them their Ranger powers, allowing him to return to his daughter as a human. Grateful for the opportunity to be reunited with his family, Chaku bid us farewell, his heart full of gratitude.
As life returned to normal, Ben and Betty's antics with Chaku's plant provided moments of levity, reminding us of the bonds forged in our battles. And when Chaku and his daughter reached out with a message of gratitude, we were reminded that, in the end, family is the true source of strength, and we were all a family.
Now, we were working to gather as many of Ryjack’s Ranger artifacts as we could before Evox could get to them. As we approached Ryjack's ship, a sense of apprehension washed over me. The unknown awaited us within those metallic walls, and caution was paramount. "We should be careful. Who knows how Ryjack's ship security is," I voiced my concerns to Zoey as we surveyed the exterior.
”Right. Let’s split up,” Zoey suggested and I nodded. I went around to the front while Zoey looked around back. As I meticulously inspected the ship's exterior, nothing out of the ordinary caught my attention... until Zoey's urgent call pierced the air.
“Kali!" her voice echoed through the silence, jolting me into action. Without hesitation, I sprinted back to her side, my heart pounding with anticipation. What…or rather, who I saw surprised me.
“Alpha!?” I asked in surprise.
“You know this robot?” Zoey asked curiously.
“Yeah! Well, I’ve read about him. That’s Alpha…it’s hard to tell what model but Alpha 5 was the Mighty Morphin Rangers’ friend and helper,” I explained. Then, upon closer examination I noticed something around his neck. “Is that…a compliance collar?” I asked, and Zoey nodded meekly.
”That's... sort of my fault. I didn't recognize him, and I thought he might've been one of Ryjack's..." Zoey admitted, her voice trailing off with remorse. I offered her a small, understanding smile.
“I get it. Come on, let's get him back to base so Nate can take this thing off," I said, my determination to right our mistake unwavering.
However, just as we were starting to leave, Scrozzle, Roxy and Blaze showed up. I immediately got ready to fight. "Thanks for doing all the work for us, Rangers. We'll be taking that robot now," Blaze's smug smile sent a shiver down my spine. Instinctively, I stepped in front of Alpha, a protective barrier between him and our adversaries.
“Over my dead body," I declared defiantly, my fists clenched and my gaze unwavering.
“If that’s what it’s gonna take. Killing you will be an added bonus,” Roxy smirked before she and Blaze morphed.
"It's morphin time! Activate wolf power!"
"Activate Beast Power!"
I charged at Blaze while Zoey took on Roxy. "I never had the chance to thank you yet, Kali. If you would've stayed with Evox, you probably would've become his right hand general. But since you left, that responsibility has landed on Roxy and me, so thank you," Blaze said.
With determination coursing through my veins, I launched myself at Blaze, my Wolf Power empowering every movement. His taunting words fueled my resolve, strengthening my resolve to take him down and protect Alpha at all costs. In that moment, a sense of understanding washed over me. Blaze wasn't just another adversary; he was a reflection of the choices I had made and the paths I had chosen to follow. And as we clashed amidst the swirling chaos, I couldn't help but wonder what could have been if our roles had been reversed. But there was no time for contemplation as our battle raged on, each blow resonating with the weight of our conflicting destinies. With every strike, I fought with all my strength, determined to overcome Blaze and emerge victorious.
However, Zoey and I found ourselves overwhelmed by their relentless onslaught, knocked to the ground by the force of their combined power. I groaned as I struggled to regain my footing, my muscles protesting against the pain of impact. Beside me, Zoey gritted her teeth, her determination shining through despite the odds stacked against us. "We can't let them take Alpha," Zoey gasped, her voice laced with urgency as she pushed herself upright. I nodded, determination burning bright within me as I forced myself to stand, my gaze locked on Blaze and Roxy's retreating forms.
"Rangers, you've put up a valiant fight, but it's time for us to take our leave," Blaze's voice echoed through the air, his tone smug with triumph as he gestured to Alpha, who had no choice but to obey Blaze's beckoning.
"Not so fast," I called out, my voice ringing with defiance as I summoned every ounce of strength within me. With a swift motion, I stood and lunged forward, intent on stopping them in their tracks. But before I could reach them, a blinding flash of light enveloped Blaze, Roxy, and Alpha, their forms disappearing in an instant as they were whisked away to safety.
"No!" Zoey cried out in frustration, her fists clenched at her sides as she watched their escape, her expression a mixture of anger and determination. I gritted my teeth, frustration bubbling within me as I clenched my fists, the sense of defeat weighing heavy on my heart. But even in the face of adversity, I refused to back down. We may have lost this battle, but the war was far from over.
"We'll find them, Zoey," I vowed, my voice firm with determination as I reached out to offer her a hand up. "And when we do, we'll make them regret ever crossing us."
We went back to base and explained the situation to the rest of our team and the Commander, who was a little upset at Zoey for putting the compliance collar on Alpha but didn't make a big deal of it…at least not now since we had bigger problems to worry about. "I think we're gonna need some help with this, and I know exactly who to call," I smiled as I hurried to the record room with the others following close behind. I grabbed the Gridspeaker and plugged it into the laptop. In the same way Devon sent out a message to Billy, I sent out a message to Dr. Oliver.
"While we wait for Dr. O to respond, we need to start figuring out a plan. I'm willing to bet Alpha knows a lot more about the Morphin Grid then Evox or we do, and his knowledge of the Morphin Grid could be a valuable asset in Evox's hands. If he's able to extract that information, it could mean disaster for Rangers everywhere," Nate explained and I agreed.
"Alpha's been around since '93, perhaps even before then but that's when Zordon chose the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, and the start of Rangers here on Earth. That's a lot of time between then and now of Ranger history," I explained. Zoey nodded in agreement, her expression mirroring the gravity of our predicament.
"But how do we rescue Alpha without falling into Evox's trap?" she asked, her brow furrowed in concentration.
Nate's eyes gleamed with determination as he spoke up, "I've been working on a new invention that might just do the trick. It's a device that can disrupt or intercept various signals. I was originally intending to use against Robo-Roxy and Robo-Blaze but I could probably modify it to short out a compliance collar, effectively rendering it useless."
A spark of hope ignited within me at Nate's revelation, the prospect of freeing Alpha from Evox's clutches filling me with renewed determination. "That could work. If we can disable the compliance collar, we can get Alpha out safely," I replied, my voice tinged with optimism. Devon and Ravi exchanged a glance, their expressions reflecting a shared sense of determination.
"Let's do it. We can't let Evox win," Devon declared, his voice filled with conviction. With our plan beginning to take shape, we set to work, each of us contributing our unique skills and knowledge to the task at hand. Despite the looming threat of Evox's forces, we remained undeterred, united in our mission to rescue our friend and thwart Evox's nefarious plans.
A couple hours later, the quiet hum of activity was interrupted by the urgent voice of an agent over the comms, alerting Commander Shaw of an unusual influx of energy in the record room.
"Go check it out, Rangers but be careful," the Commander told us and we nodded. Without hesitation, we sprang into action, rallying together as a team to investigate the source of the disturbance. Nate, Steel, Ravi, Zoey, Devon, and I hurried to the record room, our senses on high alert as we braced for whatever awaited us. As we entered the room, our eyes widened in disbelief at the sight before us. In a bright flash of green light, two portals materialized before our eyes, each shimmering with otherworldly energy. From one portal emerged Jason Scott and Billy Cranston of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers team, their familiar faces a welcome sight amidst the chaos.
From the other portal, emerged Connor, Kira, Ethan, and Trent of the Dino Thunder Power Rangers team, their presence adding to the surreal atmosphere of the moment. My heart raced with excitement at the sight of them, a wave of nostalgia washing over me as memories of their past adventures flooded my mind. But as the initial wave of excitement began to subside, a nagging question gnawed at the back of my mind. Where was Tommy? The absence of the legendary Ranger cast a shadow over the joyous reunion, filling me with a sense of unease.
Unable to contain my curiosity, I turned to Jason Scott, my voice laced with concern. "Where's Dr. Oliver?" I asked, the words hanging in the air with a weight that belied their simplicity. The two Ranger teams exchanged nervous glances, their expressions betraying a shared sense of apprehension.
"You don't know…?" Connor asked hesitantly, his voice tinged with sorrow.
"Know what? What happened?" I pressed, my worry growing with each passing moment.
"Kali…there's no easy way to say this but…" Kira started, her voice faltering as she glanced towards Jason and Billy for support.
"Tommy…was killed," Jason finished, his tone heavy with grief. My heart plummeted at the news, the ground beneath me feeling unsteady as disbelief washed over me like a tidal wave.
"N-no…there's no way…he helped save me from Evox's control…he can't be…" I stammered, unable to process the reality of Dr. Oliver's absence. Tears welled up in my eyes, blurring my vision as the weight of the loss settled over me like a suffocating blanket. I felt Devon's gentle hand on my shoulder, his silent support offering a glimmer of solace amidst the turmoil of emotions swirling within me.
"Not too long after Dr. Oliver got back to Reefside from coming here, a mysterious evil Ranger from another dimension who called himself Lord Drakkon came and started causing chaos. Dr. O went to fight him by himself, but by the time the rest of us got there…it was already too late. He…killed him right in front of us and then disappeared through a portal," Trent explained, his voice thick with sorrow.
"Billy and I have been trying to figure out who Lord Drakkon is, where he came from, and where he went, but so far the only thing we've learned is that he's somehow connected to the Morphin Grid," Jason added solemnly, his gaze filled with a mixture of anger and despair.
"What…did this Lord Drakkon look like?" I dared to ask, my fists clenched at my sides. Anger simmered beneath the surface, mingling with the overwhelming grief as Ethan described the villain's appearance. I realized he was the one in my dreams, and that Dr. Oliver said he knew who he was. “Dr. Oliver knew who he was…he knew and still chose to face him alone…I saw Drakkon kill him in my dream…” I admitted to everyone. Billy and Jason looked at me curiously.
“Okay…we’ll talk more about this later. Right now we need to focus on getting Alpha back,” Billy said. I took a deep breath and dried my face on my t-shirt. Nate explained his idea to them. I noticed that he seemed to be acting a bit odd, like he was trying to stay calm.
Heh…I wouldn’t be surprised if Nate looks up to Billy and even Ethan. I mean, I’m not even a brainiac like the two of them are and I look up to Billy. Then again, I look up to all the Mighty Morphin Rangers.
“The problem is luring them out,” Zoey said after Nate finished.
“I think I might have an idea. It’ll be risky, but we’ll have to take that chance,” I spoke up, a newfound fire in my voice.
In the Cyber Dimension….
"…and while we are deeply saddened and troubled by this betrayal, Grid Battleforce will continue to fight against Evox’s forces to protect Coral Harbor," Commander Shaw's voice echoed through the landscape, her words carrying a somber yet resolute tone.
"Master Evox! It seems your Black Wolf Ranger is still loyal to you after all!" Scrozzle exclaimed, his mechanical voice tinged with excitement as he observed the broadcast from his workstation. Evox's eyes gleamed with interest at the news, his attention fully captured by Scrozzle's report.
"Interesting," he mused, his voice low and calculating. "Scrozzle, take Roxy and Blaze with you to go find her." Scrozzle nodded in acknowledgment, a quick bow preceding his response.
"Yes, Master," he replied, his movements swift and efficient as he prepared to carry out Evox's command.
Kali’s POV
I waited in the warehouse for Roxy and Blaze to find me, morphed in my Ranger suit. Sure enough, after a while they showed up. “Took you guys long enough,” I remarked.
“You’ve left Grid Battleforce?” Blaze asked.
“Sheesh, straight to the point, huh? Not even a hello or how are you? But yeah, I’ve left Grid Battleforce. Your words the other day about how I could’ve been Evox’s top general got me thinking,” I replied casually.
“So you’re joining us again?” Scrozzle asked.
“Woah, slow down. I never said that. Just because I’ve defected doesn’t mean I want to join you again. Why have someone boss me around when I can be my own boss? I’m a solo act now. But…that doesn’t mean I won’t work withyou,” I explained.
“I’m listening,” Scrozzle said, intrigued.
“When I left, I stole a bunch of Morph X,” I mentioned as I took out a small vial and tossed it to Scrozzle. “Consider that a gift, and proof of what I say. I’ll give you the rest of what I’ve got, as I really don’t have a use for it. But…I want Alpha. Unlike the Morph X, I have a use for him,” I explained.
“How do we know you aren’t playing us?” Roxy asked accusingly.
“I gave you a vial of Morph X, didn’t I? Plus, how do I know you’ll hold up your end of the deal?” I shot back.
“Fine. Come back here in two hours. We’ll have that old robot, and you better have the rest of the Morph X you stole. If you double cross us, your robot is as good as scrap metal,” Scrozzle said.
“And if you double cross me, the Morph X will get blown up,” I threatened. Then they teleported away and I made my way back to base.
