So far, I know that he's in my first period class and he's in my grade. I also know where his locker is now but I still have a problem. I don't know his name. I didn't get a chance to ask him for his name during first period. Well, actually, I kinda did but... I was too shy to speak. Anyways, first period ended and I decided to follow him. I waited while he went to his locker. I stood off to the side in the crowd. I was trying to keep my eye on him while also not letting it seem like i'm watching him. I checked my watch and continued to keep my eyes on the boy when he closed his locker door and started to walk away. I smiled at my chance but then I was blocked by a group of guys. I looked up to see it was Justin and his gang.
I sighed. "What do you want?"
"I just want to talk. You avoided me earlier. Why?" Justin asked.
I simply looked away so I wouldn't have to look at his smug face. Justin didn't seem to like that because he quickly grabbed my chin and practically made me look at him.
"Why are you not looking at me? Do I have something on my face?"
I glared at Justin then tried to take my chin back.
"Leave me alone, Justin!"
"Leave him alone? Ha! You hearing this, Justin? He wants you to leave him ALONE." One of Justin's friends said.
Justin smirked as he tighten his grip on my chin. I started to whimper. Justin started to lean in close to me and I simply held my folder and Harry Potter book tightly to my chest.
"Nobody and I mean NOBODY tells me what to do. Understand?" He asked.
I just stared at him, not saying anything.
Justin glared. "Are you deaf? I said, understand!?" He shouted then raised his hand up to slap me when the late bell rung.
"Justin, we gotta go before we're caught by a teacher!" One of his friends said.
Justin sighed then pushed me against the wall. He continued to glare at me as he kicked my messenger bag right across the hallway then walked away. I watched Justin and his friends leave then let out an relieved sigh. I didn't realize that I was holding my breath until now. I slowly reached my right hand up to my chest and felt my heart beating fast and it wasn't because I was staring at the boy with green eyes and freckles.
I walked across the hallway and picked up my bag then slung it over my body. I then checked my watch and sighed.
"I'm late. This is NOT good."
I quickly tried to hurry to my second period class.
***
The good news is that I haven't encountered Justin and his crew anymore after what happened but the bad news is that the boy with green eyes and freckles wasn't in my second period... or my third period... or even my fourth period... I was beginning to think that maybe our only class together is Mrs. Miller's English class. I REALLY didn't want that to be true since I wanted to see him more.
I started to head over to the library so I can go to my study hall. I have study hall this fifth period and then I have lunch right after. Even though i'm not the most popular boy in school, I at least have a really good best friend that I've known since middle school. Her name is Jaime Thomas. She's really the ONLY person I came out to in eighth grade when I first realized that I was into guys. She's supported me ever since. We both have study hall AND lunch together so i'm able to tell her soon about my... I don't know if I can call it a crush persay.
I started to make my way past gym when I heard a bunch of balls being thrown and sneakers squeaking against the slick gym floors. I assumed that the gym class were playing basketball today. I'm super glad I didn't get gym this year and instead, I got study hall.
As I passed the gym doors, I glanced inside before continuing my walk when I saw a familiar figure. I backed up to the gym doors and peeked inside through the windows on the doors. There he is! The boy with green eyes and freckles! He's playing basketball with the other guys in gym class. This is great! Now I know he has gym this period so now I get to see him everyday.
Then, just like that, my world started to slow down. I watched as the boy with green eyes and freckles dribbled the basketball ball then shoot the ball into the basketball. He had sweat all on his face and arms so it made his body glisten against the gym lights. He looked...perfect.
"What are you doing?"
"Gah!" I broke out of my thoughts and looked to see who startled me.
I sighed once I realized it was just Jaime.
"Nothing. I'm just...watching the guys play." It wasn't a total lie. I AM watching the guys play basketball. Or should I say, i'm watching A guy.
"Uh huh. I know that look on your face." Jaime said then peeked through the window.
"No way in hell are you interested in watching smelly and sweaty boys play basketball. Who do you have your eyes on?" Jaime looked at me.
I quickly hid my now blushing face behind my Harry Potter book. Jaime smirked then took my book from me.
"Harry Potter isn't going to save you by waving his magic wand this time. Just tell me, Jonah."
I sighed. I might as well tell her. She caught me in a trap.
"Okay...I was watching A guy." I started.
Jaime smiled. "Oooh~ Who is it?"
"It's....I don't know his name. All I know is that he's in my first period class."
Jaime peeked through the windows again. "What does he look like?"
"Well, he has black hair, green eyes and freckles that goes across his face. He's new here."
"I see him! He's in my second period Biology class. We're actually lab partners."
My heart just dropped. "L-lab partners? Y-you two?"
Jaime looked at me and nodded. "Mr. Withers assigned him as my lab partner since I was the only one in class that didn't have one."
I held my folder tightly to my chest. Jaime was still holding onto my Harry Potter book.
"Do you like him?"
I shrugged. I didn't know how to answer that.
"I...I dunno. I mean, he's cute and...I like to watch him and whenever he looks at me, my heart skips a beat and I have butterflies in my stomach and when he smiles...my world stops."
Jaime smiled. "Oooh~ You like him~ You like him~"
I sighed and rolled my eyes. "Do not. I just...I think..."
Jaime held her hand up. "Say no more. I get it."
I shifted on my weight a bit. "So...since he's your lab partner, what's his name? I've been dying to know."
Jaime smiled. "His name is Cyr Carter. He moved here from Oregon. He's 15. He likes to read manga and listen to rock music. He has a little sister named Abigail and lives with his mom. His dad isn't in the picture."
I stared at Jaime, jaw dropped.
"What? We talked while we did our assignment today. He's a really good listener and conversationalist."
I nodded. "So...does he...you know...like..."
"Guys?" She finished my sentence. Jaime shrugged. "I didn't think to ask him because I didn't know you have a crush on him."
"I don't have a crush..." I mumbled.
Jaime rolled her eyes with a smile. "Whatever. Anyways, if you're so curious, go ask him yourself."
I blinked my eyes. "R-right now?"
"No. I don't mean right now. I can't imagine you going inside the gym and asking him if he's into dudes right in front of everybody."
She had a point. Not only would that be embarrassing for the both of us but it'll be humiliating to me if he says no.
I nodded. "Right...i'll...ask him...but when? Do you know his class schedule?"
Jaime nodded. "Let's see, he has your first period, my second period, our lunch, our sixth period History and our eighth period Health."
I blinked my eyes again. "Wow..."
Jaime nodded. "He showed me his schedule and we both compared."
I licked my lips. "So...you never mentioned me huh?"
"Well, I DID say that I have a friend that's in our lunch, sixth and eighth period but I didn't say who you were or anything."
I nodded.
"Anyways, we should get to study hall before the librarian calls the principle and tells him that we're missing. You can see him again at lunch. We can all sit together."
I gulped. "Sit together? How?"
I nodded with a smile. "Sure."
"Oh, here's your book." She handed me my Harry Potter book.
I took it back from her then watched her walk towards the library. I held my things tightly to my chest and smiled. Things were starting to look up for me today.
