“Jason? Are you going to turn off the car? We are home,” Jesse says pulling me out of my thoughts. “Oh! Sorry I was lost in thought,” I explain turning the car off. The both of us get out of the car and grab our bags from the back. I throw her keys to her and she catches them like usual. “So, when are you going to tell Mom and Dad that you’re dating Vera?” I ask as we walk into the house. Our parents are never home they are always working and when they are home they’re planning Jesse and her soulmate’s wedding. “You know I can’t. Mom and Dad are set on me marrying Kenny,” Jesse answer setting her bag down.
I nod and go up to Daniella and Daniel’s room. My little siblings are sleeping as peacefully as they were when we left. We are supposed to have a nanny but the person we pay comes then once everyone leaves she goes out clubbing or something. “Danny, Ella, wake up,” I say softly going over to their bed and shaking them. Daniella was the first to wake up with a big yawn. Her stomach growled in response. “Jasy! You’re back!” Daniella yells hugging me. I chuckle and pat her head. Daniel wakes up as well and joins in the hug. I pick the two up and go downstairs where Jesse was cooking. She nods to me as I set our siblings down. “Jes Jes!” Daniel yells wobbling over to her, giving her a hug. His hug only reached her legs so she paused cooking then kneeled down and hugged him. Jesse looked up at me and we both knew what happened, the ‘nanny’ gave them melatonin when they aren’t supposed to have melatonin. She’s done this trick before but it makes it so the little 3 year olds do not eat the whole day and instead sleep.
Jesse set out the Mac n Cheese as I put the kids in their high chairs at the table. We started to feed the toddlers before we ate ourselves. Once we all finished eating we brought the kids to their room to play. Hopefully the melatonin will wear off soon. I take the first shift of playing with the kids while Jesse takes a shower and does her homework. This usually takes about an hour so we are just playing race cars and dolls. When Jesse finally gets back I go take a shower and do my homework. Once I get back to the room I see the kids practically passed out with toys in hand as well as Jesse passed out on the floor with a doll and race car. I pull out my phone and snap a picture before putting the toddlers into bed. Then looking back at Jesse debating if I should wake her up or carry here to bed I decide to pick her up. She’s not heavy but not light either. I carry my twin to her room down the hall making sure she doesn’t wake up. Once in her room I set her down on her queen sized purple bed. I tuck her in then go to my room.
I shut the door leaning my back against it and sigh. Today has been crazy definitely. I look around my pale white walls that happen to be unadorned with just one poster. I’m not allowed to put anything on my walls like my siblings are. The failure can’t be given anything really. Though if Clove and I are soulmates maybe I wouldn’t be a failure. I start to climb into my small bed as I feel this searing pain come from my right arm. Looking down at it I see my freckle that was usually there is now gone. What replaces it scares the living hell out of me. It says…
