"Okay, everyone," Lailah called out, closing out the requests on Twitter, "in an overwhelming vote of thumbs up, the people want us to split into pairs and sing!"
"I get dibs on Lailah!" Zaveid cried out, sitting up quickly and bumping his head against the bookshelf that hung above the couch he'd been snoozing on, "Ah, my head!"
"Oh dear!" Lailah rushed over and sighed when she saw that Zaveid wasn't critically injured, "Just don't lay down, and if you feel woozy, let us know!"
"Right," Alisha added, "I'll call my family's ambulance helicopter and we'll have you rushed to the nearest hospital."
"How did I get so lucky as to be surrounded by all these beautiful, caring women?" Zaveid mused.
"Don't worry, I can send you to the hospital right now." Edna smirked, "Just a precautionary procedure, they'll keep you overnight, since umbrella stabs wounds can get infected easily."
"Uh, Edna, I think you've helped enough." Mikleo backed up as the shorter seraph turned to scowl at him.
"Just tell us who they want paired with who." Dezel growled.
"Well," Lailah resumed, "we're to draw straws."
"And the song?" Rose inquired.
"'Lonely Girl.'" Lailah hummed thoughtfully, "I think I could work better with some chiffon cake."
"But wait," Mikleo began "won't you get-"
"Don't you dare," Edna warned, "don't...you...dare."
"A stomachache...I know not to ask about a female seraph's weight, after last time." Mikleo folded his arms and turned away."
"You know, you two should get along better," Sorey advised, "what would happen if you two were to get paired together?"
"Don't say 'pair', it sounds too much like 'ship', for me." Edna opened her umbrella and turned away.
"He's right, what if you two got stranded on tour together?" Dezel pulled his hat away from Zaveid, "Or if there was a horrible accident, our lives are on the line, and only you two could go get help?"
"Thanks for that nightmare." Edna replied coolly.
"Um...anyways, let's just cross our fingers and pull names out of hats, who wants to write out our names?" Lailah held out a sheet of paper and a pen, "Shall I do the honors?"
"Sure, I'd just end up writing everybody's true name anyways." Rose shrugged.
"Great, and I think we should leave the songs to the duets!" Lailah said as she cut the paper into strips, "I only wrote half our names, sense it'd be weird if I got one name, but that person got someone and if you grab your own name, then just put it back in the hat."
"Sounds easy enough." Mikleo said confidently, "Sorey and I should definitely duet, though, we've practiced for years."
"What, you two sing in the shower or something?" Zaveid snorted.
"Yup!" Sorey folded his arms and beamed with pride.
"Sorey!" Mikleo cried, wincing as Zaveid laughed at them.
"Oh, quiet, Zaveid," Edna said, whacking him with her umbrella, "you sound like a dying Normin."
No one in the room would ask the question that was on everybody's mind.
Edna sat in the chair next to her partner. She turned again to see the seraph sitting next to her. How had she gotten paired up with him? It was such a slim chance that the ironic would happen, and she knew that before the day was over with, they'd have to set aside difference and work together.
"Look," she sighed, "Mikleo...let's just try to get this over-"
"I can't believe I got stuck with you!" Mikleo shouted.
"Me neither, but it's done, and there's no takebacks, so let's just deal with this."
"Ugh, fine. You first...what song do you want to sing?"
"No, you pick." she turned away and awaited his reply.
"Why me?"
"That's what I want to know, you're usually so picky!"
"Well. that's because...if it sounds stupid, usually I don't care, but it's just us, so-"
"So you're insecure, huh?"
"T-that's not it!"
"That's why you're so lonely." Edna remarked, "Miklonely. Miklonely girl, that's why you're so Miklonely."
"How does that make any sense?"
"Because, you're insecure, that keeps you from getting close to other people. Face it, unless you're being a total ruins nerd, you're never going to say something to people that tells them more about you. Other than the fact that you'll always be so Miklonely."
"Edna?" Mikleo asked quietly.
"What?"
"That was...oddly insightful of you."
"I know, but anyone can see that you're Miklonely."
"No, about...well, you're right there, too." Mikleo sighed and leaned back in his chair, "But you'll run people off, being so blunt."
"I know...but if they're so impatient to be such good friends, then maybe they should look elsewhere."
"That's...an interesting way to look at it."
"Let's just get this over with." Edna sighed.
Sorey looked around, everyone was sitting down, except Dezel, who was standing behind the couch the group was sitting on, filming the duos as they performed their songs, and then it was Edna and Mikleo's turn, hence Sorey acting like a nervous squirrel.
"Are you okay there, Sorey?" Rose asked calmly.
"Yeah, just really excited and kind of worried, I mean, it's Edna and Mikleo, not exactly a dream team." Sorey shrugged, "I'm sure they'll be fine, though!"
"You don't sound sure." Dezel huffed.
"Shh, it's about to start!" Lailah warned, as Edna walked through the curtains with a guitar in her hand, Mikleo followed with a microphone, and a face as red as his clothes were blue, as dark as his clothes were light.
"Oh, he's not going to have a nervous breakdown, or something, is he?" Sorey asked, more to himself than anyone else, "Maybe I should--huh?"
Edna looked up at Mikleo and said something, Mikleo nodded and sat down on a stool to make up for Edna's shorter stature, and they began to sing.
"It looks like she's going to lead," Sorey narrated, "that's good, he's got an awful case of stage fright sometimes!"
No one expected it to work, but Edna and Mikleo's duet worked out, and before too long, whenever Sorey put "Zestiria" in the search bar, "Lonely Girl Mikleo and Edna" came up with it.
"Hey, Mikleo, come look, you're famous!" Sorey called out.
Mikleo dragged his sorry carcass off the couch he was napping in and stared at the screen for a few seconds before registering what happened. He covered his mouth to hide a gasp and Zaveid, who was on his own personal couch under the bookshelf, called out to Alisha, "Hey, call your folk's hospital up, the water seraph in the room can't handle the fame!"
"T-that's a lie!" Mikleo shouted immediately.
"Nope, his heart rate is way too high!" Zaveid yelled.
"Alright, I'm calling!" Alisha notified.
All in all, it was a pretty average day for them.
Song is "Lonely Girl", a song that found it's way into my head whenever Edna said "Miklonely", so I couldn't help it, this wrote itself!!!!!!!!!!662Please respect copyright.PENANAB5KTnchBjL
