White did not come to see Aiden as he had promised.
Two weeks came and went.
By the third week Aiden was in a touchy mood, divided between hope that he might hear from White or see him.
If he came to see him, Aiden was determined to treat him with a casual coolness.
Aiden did not have long to wait before getting the chance to carry out his intentions, White came through his front door with a large bouquet of roses and an apologetic smile.
He began with: "Hello Aiden."
Aiden remained composed and detached.
"Not seeing you these past few weeks have been difficult. My life is never the same when I don't see or hear from you. Please forgive me."
"I have been busy myself," Aiden replied with a neutral coolness. He did not want to betray the pleasure of seeing White.
White was taken aback by Aiden's disinterest.
"Can we have dinner tomorrow evening? I hope you are not upset with me?"
"I am not upset with you," Aiden replied with indifference.
"I am sorry for not coming to see you as I promised and for not reaching out sooner."
White then handed the large bouquet to Aiden, whose face turned pink as he took it.
"Let's forget about it," he told White as he looked at the roses.
Still tenacious with his request, White pressed again.
"Can we have dinner tomorrow evening?"
"I will think about it," Aiden answered peevishly as he looked away.
"You are still upset with me," White queried gently as he followed Aiden around the house.
"No, I am not."
"Then let's have dinner tomorrow evening."
Aiden finally acquiesced.
The restaurant White took Aiden was located right along the Chao Phraya River and surrounded by majestic banyan trees.
Tables were set along the river and in all the five teakwood pavilions.
Aiden took a quick around the restaurant and asked: "Is there a special reason why you chose this restaurant?"
"No special reason. I just wanted us to eat at a nice restaurant."
"It's very nice, a feast for all the senses," Aiden opined as looked around again.
"I agree. It gives off a unique dining experience," White's his gaze never left Aiden's face.
"I wonder if the food would be as nice," Aiden added.
"I heard that the food is just as nice as the ambiance."
Robbing his palms together, Aiden remarked: "I cannot wait to see what's on the menu."
"I will always take you to nice restaurants like this,"' White revealed like it was an oath.
Aiden gave him a silly grin.
"If you keep giving me silly grins like this I am going to marry you."
"And I am going to pretend I did not hear that."
"I want you to be happy more than anything else in the world. And I will do anything to make that happen."
"You talk as if you are my happiness service provider," Aiden bantered.
They began with shrimp crackers and a coconut dipping sauce. They found the shrimp crackers fabulous and the dipping sauce creamy and sweet.
"The shrimp crackers were a great choice."
White smiled with pride.
"What are we having next?"
"We having the cheeva pork salad with eggplant and chilly paste.
Aiden liked how the meat was topped with crispy flavoured onions and and as he started eating White called his name softly.
"Aiden looked up with a smile.
"I am your first love?" White asked.
Aiden was contemplative for a brief moment and then he decided to lie.
"Yes."
Aiden watched as gratification gyrated across White's face.
"Am I also your first love?"
Even though Aiden asked the question he did not care about the answer, he was only thinking of Han.
"I have never had a first love. But that is all in the past. Now I only want to see only you."
"In fact let's make official."
Aiden was confused.
"Official?"
White nodded.
"Let's get married."
On hearing the words, Aiden felt numb rather than excitement.
"Let's get married," White repeated again as he waited for Aiden's response.
Aiden was saved from having to a give a response.
"White is that you?"
A lady who was fair and pretty, wearing a bright yellow and black plaid Dior suit stopped by their table.
White stood up with surprise.
"Prima? What a pleasant surprise."
"How are you?"
"I am good thank you. It's great to see you. I did not know you were in town. Is Pajo with you?"
"No he is not. I just came to town for my annual health check ups."
"I will be coming to Hua Hin as soon as I arrange my affairs," White informed.
"Good. Pay us a visit when you do."
The Jaguar tore along unhindered by traffic. The destination was Aiden's Aunt's house.
Aiden wondered desperately if he was making the right decision by getting engaged.
"Did you really mean it when you whispered those three little words?"
"What three little words?"
Aiden looked out the window wishing he could back in and change his mind. This was not what he wanted.
"Never mind.."
Soon they were in front of Aiden's Aunt's house which was a moderate bungalow guarded by palm trees, bougainvilleas and orchids.
The moment she opened the door and saw her nephew with White, she quickly slammed it shut.
Aiden opened the door for them to enter.
Going into the sitting room, they found Aiden's Aunt looking at her reflection in hand mirror.
"How are you doing?" Aiden affectionately kissed her cheek.
"Very well thank you. This is a surprise, I thought you were coming alone?"
White stepped forward and injected himself between Aunt and nephew.
"You are looking very beautiful. All that Botox obviously agrees with you."
"How chivalrous of you Mr White. In fact I hope this fraud will be over very soon."
"What fraud?"
White quired in a hard steel voice.
"Nothing of consequence. Just my intuition kicking in."
Putting down the mirror, Aiden's Aunt reached for his hand.
"Come to the library with me."
As soon as Aiden closed the door of the library his Aunt shrieked at him.
"How rude of you to bring "THAT" to my house!"
"Dear Aunt please be a little kind to him."
"This is too much."
"Please try to like him or at least build a tolerance for him."
"No I can't. I detest him too much to even think about liking him."
"Please Aunt don't be offensive," Aiden was now at pointof exhaustion.
His Aunt now appealed.
"Why don't go back to Han instead of canoodling with that vampire?"
"I will never get back together with Han," Aiden's tone became impassioned.
"I wanted a nice restful evening, but what do I get? You bring "THAT" into my house."
"Please stop calling him THAT," Aiden was on the he verge of a mental breakdown because of having constantly defend White before his Aunt.
"I absolutely forbid you to keep seeing him," his Aunt finally declared before reposing into an armchair.
"Am afraid that won't be possible. We are engaged."
White burst into the library with the energy of a bull that ready for battle.
Aiden's Aunt sat up with an alarm.
"What did you just say?"
White repeated his announcement with relish.
"We are engaged."
"Engaged?"
She turned and looked at her nephew.
"Engaged? I am flabbergasted. Well I think it's a terrible idea."
"Why is it a terrible idea?" White demanded.
"You two are not right for each other."
"You are wrong, Madam. We are perfect for each other."
"It just will not work,": she stood up and turned her back.
"We love each," Aiden quickly added in a barely convinced voice.
"That's relevant Aiden. You are simply going along because you think it's the right thing to do."
White placed a possessive hand around Aiden's neck, very much standing his ground.
"We are going to get married and we intend to stick to that decision. I want you to know here and now that bullying won't help you."
"So I am a bully? That's very sweet of you Mr White," the sarcasm in her voice was real.
"To be called a bully by a fraud in my own home has truly made my evening."
Turning to her nephew, she commanded.
"Aiden tell Mr White to leave this instant because his presence is no longer desirable."
White retaliated
"Aiden tell your Aunt that this 2025. We are not living in the era of King Rama III whereby her approval and consent is needed."
"If I want to see your nephew no amount of threats will deter me."
Taking Aiden by the hand, they both left the house.
May came out of the elegant dressing rooms of a reputable bridal salon wearing a stunning wedding gown.
She matched gracefully over to a full length mirror to admire her reflection.
White looked up from his phone and was amazed.
"Do you like it?"
May asked still looking at and relishing her beauty in the mirror.
"Yes, I do."
May smiled and fished for more compliments.
"Do you think I look nice in it?"
White stood up and walked over to her.
"You look exquisite."
"I don't know if I like this one. I think I will try on another gown."
"No, I like this one and besides you look perfectly beautiful."
May gave a winsome giggle.
White began running his fingers through May's hair.
"I like how my hair is looking now," May was saying while looking at White through the mirror.
"But the volume is not where I want it to be though."
"Come on, you have such beautiful hair," White was now caressing her neck seductively.
"When do you leave with Aiden for Hua Hin?"
May was still looking at White through the mirror.
"We leave next week."
"Is everything planned?"
White nodded.
"Everything is prepared for the final curtain call. Will you be coming too?"
"I have not decided yet," May answered as she stroked White's crotch.
A second later they began kissing passionately.
