An alarm clock woke up Terry; it was the noise of a fire truck. He immediately went out to check the burning house just in front of his. The firemen began connecting the hose to the fire hydrant but they were not able to stop it because the establishment exploded and nothing was saved except its owner, Dr. Xef. He just sighed and talked to the firemen of what have happened then they left him as if they finished watching an advertisement; not even an ambulance arrived to check him and all the other home owners didn’t even take peak to what had commenced – nobody cares! This confused Terry and he continued to be worried for his neighbor. Until a man wearing a jumpsuit filled with measuring tools came to his line of sight and asked if any of the chemicals touched him. Terry glanced at his body and saw nothing new so he assumed he’s fine and before the stranger left their little chat, he explained that it’s a norm in town- the scientist always encounter accidents in the process of finding the best solutions. The man who looked like a carpenter finally talks to the doctor and they kept on glancing at the youngest. Terry didn’t know what they were chatting about but Dr. Xef finally came closer to talk- asked if he could use the secretary’s telephone to inform the mayor of his concerns. Of course, he agreed because he felt sorry for the other. The scientist thanked him before saying how rude he was for not introducing himself. Terry just smiled to his politeness and offered something to drink. Dr. Xef declined and admitted that he invented a watch which would be able to let him regulate his body or control his hunger and thirst. The younger one looked for the person who’s with the doctor before letting him in but it seems that the other strange man disappeared with just the sound of a car leaving.
While Terry was enjoying his cabbage soup, Dr. Xef confessed that he has a second house and it’s located near the town hall- where the clinic is to be specific. His account made him less worried towards his neighbor and by the way the doctor speaks and moves around, it feels like he’s rich so the lad didn’t bother to offer more help. He didn’t use the phone actually; he just talked non-stop about his success in medicine and other science stuff to the point that Terry felt drowsy. For some reason, he can’t fight the urge to sleep so he just fell deeply into it as seconds pass by.
When he woke up, his parents were yelling and throwing empty bottles again. Terry didn’t wait for them to reach his room which is why he escaped using his bedroom’s window. But this time he didn’t just stay at the tool shed, he ended it himself with axe. Torry screamed as he chopped Joseph’s head in half. Seconds later, her lower jaw was what’s left of her face. He kept chopping till the room was painted red and they were nothing but the grime that they are in his life. Terry loved the feeling of warm blood on his face; he wanted it to last forever but he flinched and all the dim colors vanished. The smell of wood came to his senses and there he realized that he doze off in work again. He wiped the sweat from his brow before continuing what he was looking at. Terry could not seem to return to the signature’s form for he felt as if he was being watched. He could only pray it wasn’t the Mayor finding out he’s sleeping because of boredom. While sighing, he heard the backdoor being closed. It made him jump a little but he didn’t react further and arranged his table instead.
Dr. Xef was walking on the empty streets approaching his clinic. He was on the phone with someone – he informed the mayor about a therapy that has an unlikely byproduct.
