2am at Route 31, he stopped to get gas. Terry didn’t have much but nothing is enough just to get his out of his past life. He was shivering – the shock arrived in his senses at last and he wanted to scream but he’s too tired to get his shit together. The cashier was nice enough to say hi and ask if he wanted a nice place to escape. Terry was about to snap when the stranger continued to say that city people like lonely places these days. He sighed and smiled, about to say goodbye but he wanted to try so he said yes. Yes he wanted a place to escape.
Route 31 was almost a copy of his home town but this place is too strange. He saw no one but the man from the gas station; who was also kind enough to bring him to the inn but they ended up at an empty summer house. There were no cars on the roads as well but his main concern is the price of the house the mayor offered – The stranger was actually the mayor! How convenient! Then there he mentioned that he was looking for a secretary, but not much on the legal stuff but on his other businesses and household matters. Now Terry is speechless. Since everything that he needed is flashed in front of him. But he was able to go back to his senses when they toured the place because it looked big and expensive. Until Mayor Corth said it was only two-hundred dollars a month but the electricity, water and all other bills is to the temporary owner. What truly shocked Terry was that the stranger also mentioned that if his secretary would take the house, the tenant could pay for it but still have five-thousand dollars and more to spare. Now this is too unrealistic, almost a trap but he still said yes. Yes to the summer house and to the vague job.
