Terry was about to admit everything that has been going wrong with this town but Mayor Corth and his friend Pastor Clays invited him to go hunting. The Mayor was just as furious as him that morning so he had done nothing but follow orders. Terry wondered what would they hunt in a semi-arid terrain; some dessert fox and rabbits might come by if they are lucky for most of the time, poisonous snakes are the common crawlers here. He could have never guessed that Koise Corth owns a cool motorcycle and loves to ride it faster than the wild dry gust if Terry did not dare to be his passenger. When they arrived at the hunting site, Terry was coughing buckets of dust because his driver decided to do a sick trick before parking. They were settled now but he was traumatized – just can’t forget the eternity when he was falling off, to be crushed by those thick wheels because the other decided it would be fun to run with just one wheel.
As they walked around the tall grasses and dead bushes, Terry was cleaning off the layers and layers sand off his clothes while the others were preparing their guns. Pastor Clays gave him a shot gun – it was one of the basic types but it was a powerful weapon in short ranges. Two older men took out their sniper rifles and set them on the rocky floor before using it. They told him to be quiet and not to move too much or their targets might not arrive or stay long enough to shoot. Terry obeyed and sat on a mound. What he didn’t know, it was a home of fire-ants. Clays was fast enough to warn him to move or he’ll be at the clinic for weeks; which is why he was able to avoid the catastrophe and decide to sit a bit far from them – next to a gigantic boulder. While trying not to look directly at the scorching sun, he heard someone groaning meekly in pain. When he peeked at the back of the rock, he saw the woman who was dying from multiple bullet wounds.
The hunting ended abruptly because the woman needs to be brought to the clinic. Terry did not want to come inside but he has to assist the stranger; it resulted to doctor and him exchanging glances awkwardly before he left to rest on a proper seat and be aware of the dried blood all over him. Later, he found out that the woman was one of the residences of Route 31 and her name is Raina Grapes. There was a problem with her situation at the moment – she would not let Dr. Xef do the major operation until she is able to look at her savior’s face. That didn’t take more than a minute because Terry stood next to her and she just said some flattering words with the assurance that she will do the same in his time.
Mayor Corth and Pastor Clays all clean and calm, were talking non-stop since they saw her. They were discussing if it was a threat or an accident since Raina is a tough girl; she could not be taken down even if tanks will come in her way. Terry didn’t mean to overhear them, he just want to ask if he should report this to the police; and when he did, the two older men just laughed their ass off the clinic.
