Freya went out for a walk while her brother stayed home and cried. She snorted at the thought. He always tried to act tough. She wanted to find other people.
She was home-schooled, so that might be problem, but she figured most of the kids her age would be at the school, trying to find out what happened. Sure enough, she was right.
As she stepped onto the road that would lead her to the school, a tall boy strode into her vision.
“Hey.” He said.
“Hi.” Freya didn't know whether to be worried or not. He was tall and had dark, clean cut hair. He would've been handsome if it weren't for the cold look in his dark eyes or his crooked nose.
He held out a hand. “I'm Erebus Rosen, I haven't seen you around before.”
Freya smiled and took his hand, her anxiety temporarily gone. “I'm Freya. Freya Dickerson.” Erebus shook her hand with a hard grip. “You probably haven't met me because I'm home-schooled.”
“Yeah?” He smiled, Freya liked him now. “What's that like?”
“Oh, its pretty boring some times.” She said, grinning. What was his last name? Rosen. Freya Rosen sounds nice. It sounds better than Dickerson.
“Hey, do you think we could find out what's happening?” She asked, her worry masked by hormones. “Like, together I guess?”
Erebus smiled again, and Freya noticed that his teeth were very straight and white, and his lips stretched over the teeth nicely. “Yeah, that sounds good. I'll take you to my house?”
Freya nodded in a quick, jerky move. She was excited. He put a hand on her lower back and guided her away from the school.
They walked for some time through a little neighborhood until he stopped at a long, one-story house. The house was very neat and organized, like a single mom lived there, alone. Inside, the door opened up into a nice, spacious living room, with a big bookshelf and fire place at the far wall. Freya stepped forward and sat on the fire place, looking at Erebus eye her out of the corner of her vision.
Yes, she decided, he was cute and maybe she could get him to kiss her. Freya Rosen sounded very good.
