Lazily, Emma reaches for her phone, which is just being destroyed with notifications.
She's about to type something when she realizes that she's the reason everyone's talking. Apparently, Jade took a picture of her and Norman under the tree. She wouldn't really expect anything else from Jade, the 'shipping queen,' as people call her.
Whatever. She puts her phone back down and she tries to fall back asleep.
...It doesn't work. She can't sleep. She grabs her phone and turns it back on. At this point, they've shut up about the picture sent.
They talk for a few minutes. "I'm gonna go, I'm hungry." Emma sends.
"Oh waitwaitwait ahhh" Jade sends with her classic lazy texting style. "Do you want to go to a coffee shop that would be a very great thing if you did bc ace still hasnt made breakfast so i went to the park but im very hungry also like how are you are you angry"
"Sure, I'll go. Which one?"
"the one by the park because im at the park and im also lazy so yeah that one"
"Okay."
...
"Hello, Emma!" Jade calls.
Emma looks up from her phone to see Jade sitting at a table right outside of the coffee shop. She walks over and sits down across from Jade.
"How are you?" Jade asks her. "After what happened yesterday- technically today... If you don't mind me asking you, if your feelings are too personal..."
"I was just glad you two were there. I can't really defend myself without a weapon..."
"Two? I wasn't there. I poked Norman 'till he woke up, then I walked home. Simple," she says. "It was not that simple, actually. I had to run very fast."
"And, uh... I think he's catching onto some things. A few days ago, he asked if you two ever got into a fight. It was pretty hard to answer, considering he's so confused by anything related to the past..."
"What did you tell him?"
"I told him it was all in the back of his head and that he was just making things up and mistaking some other girl for you..."
"Oh... What if he finds out what Olive did and who she was...?"
"I don't really want to think about it," Jade says. "It's still that he has amnesia, and he won't remember her almost at all, so it won't affect him as much, is what I'm guessing. He definitely won't jump out of a window again, that's for definite sure."
"What if he blames me again, though?" Emma puts her head in her hands.
Jade smiles. "Everything is going to be okay..." She puts her hand on Emma's shoulder.
Emma says nothing.
"Can you tell me something?"
"I mean, sure..."
"How do you truly feel about him? I mean, about Norman?"
"...It's hard to tell sometimes. One side of me thinks I do like him, yes, but the other side is still... I shouldn't feel that way since I don't think he would like me the same... He hasn't really shown any kind of sign he actually likes me..."
"Oh, he's just subtle about his thoughts and feelings," Jade lies. "I don't know if he actually does like you back or not."
Emma nods. "What do you think?"
"Eh. At times, I think he does. Some other times, I think he doesn't..." Jade mutters.
"Hey!" Someone calls from a distance, making some people stare.
Oh no... it's him...
"Jade..." Emma whispers. "It's..."
In the light, Emma could see what he actually looked like. He had blonde, messy hair. "Have you thought about it?" He asks, now close to Emma and Jade. "Just us?"
"Burn in hell!" Jade yells, her voice scratching.
"And who do you think you are?"
"Someone who could easily beat you in a fight!" Jade smiles challengingly.
"Oh, you could, noodle-armed girl?" He taunts. "I have weapons! We can settle this later..." He turns to Emma and grabs her shoulders. "Now me and you settle this..." Emma looks back up at him, fear seemingly overtaking her. Tears well up in her eyes.
"Jade..." She whispers, but Jade smirks and walks away. "Jade... You can-"
"Shut up!" The teenager scolds. "That little girl won't save you!" He lowers his voice. "Your boyfriend isn't here this time..." He mutters.
"Hey... How about this... I am the sister of her boyfriend, or as you say. I carry around knives for self-defense, as he does. Touch her and I might kill you!" Jade exclaims, her expression similar to Omori's when his emotion is 'manic.'
The teenager smirks and pulls Emma close. Before anyone knows it, there's a knife being held by Jade pressed against his neck. "I told you I could scare!" Jade exclaims. The teenager lets Emma go, and she falls back, still shocked.
"P-put that down, little girl..." The teenager mutters. "You don't know what you're-"
"Oh, were you planning on going about alone?" Jade taunts. "Well, I guess you'll be alone once I tell them what you tried to do to my friend!"
"I'll do anything, just let me go!" The teenage boy's eyes fill with horror. "How is this innocent girl overpowering me...?" He whispers, barely making any noise.
"Everyone underestimates me!" Jade says cheerfully, like a child. "Of course, someone is filming this. How do you feel about being infamous? I will feel like absolute crap when the media gets to me, so I may as well camp out in my house for a month until everything passes, and people have forgotten who I am!"
...
Emma enters her house, hoping her dad hasn't found out about what happened, or that what happened was to her. He wasn't overprotective, but he'd still be angry in a situation like this.
"Hello, Antenna." Yugo greets. Good, he hasn't... He'd be questioning me by now... "Where were you?"
"I went to a coffee shop with Jade."
"You were out that long? It's noon already."
"Oh, we went to the park after. She said she wanted to meet dogs that pass through," Emma answers. "I'm sorry I left without telling you, but I thought you were probably asleep at that time."
"It's fine. You always go out and you've never disappeared, so I don't really mind." Yugo replies.
I would have if Jade wasn't there... Emma wanted to say, but it would confuse Yugo. She thinks of Jade's manic expression and the knife pressed against the teenage boy's neck. Would Jade do that to protect a stranger? Or just me, since I'm best friends with her brother...? She thinks. Jade is a good person, she would hold a knife to someone's throat to protect a stranger- even kill them if they had any weapon and tried to use it, but she probably wouldn't taunt them with a manic expression...
...Or would she really do that? No, just for people that matter a lot to her...
...
Jade looks down. Did I go too far? My expression looked like Omori's 'Manic' emotion... It's fine, I freed my friend from that guy anyway... I wonder what his name is... He's not going to do that anymore, at least until he's let out. "Serves him right," she mutters. "I really wish I could kill him, though. No more people doing bad things to my best friend..." She pauses, confused. "What? Frick you, Jade... You're way too overprotective of your friends." She places a hand on top of her forehead. "Something terrible is going to happen to me or to one of the people I care about..."
"I wonder what it'll be, huh? A death? I'm barely managing one, and it caused my brother to lose all of his memory..." Jade whispers.
"What?!"
Jade looks over. "Norman?"
