The house was busy, as we all got to work. Stiles was assigned to find information for the poster, Sydney to get the materials, and I, to work out the layout and theme of the poster. I felt bad that I was assigned an easy job, but I had recently just told Stiles that I would help him once I was done figuring everything out, which he gladly accepted. Things were still awkward, but I had to put the feeling aside.

It was going to be way too obvious that something happened. But nothing did happen. I kept telling myself, trying to convince my brain that it was nothing. I shook the thought out of my head, attempting to re-focus. The calmness lasted for maybe- 20 seconds

“Alright listen guys. That girl is a werewolf, like McCall.” Jackson stated, randomly, out of the blue.
Everybody looked up. No one liked bringing up the fact that Scott was a werewolf. It was more of a sensitive topic. Convicting someone of being one was a bit random.

“Jackson, you aren't being funny.” Allison murmured. I would have said the same thing too if I hadn’t thought the same thing.
323Please respect copyright.PENANAwolh3HyIjz
“I mean seriously. She has to be. She bruised my leg when she kicked me.” Jackson replied.
323Please respect copyright.PENANAd5uvWbB8rO
“Okay, but that doesn’t mean she’s a werewolf.” Scott pointed out, a little too loud. I picked up on a hint of jealousy in his voice.
323Please respect copyright.PENANASgIt7W0Nvb
“Keep your voices down!” Allison hissed.

“She bruised my bone! The school nurse told me and I just said it was from lacrosse.” Jackson retorted. Stiles shook his head and got back to work, and so did everybody else.
323Please respect copyright.PENANAbmhKLoHBnb
“No, it's true. I agree with Jackson.” I interjected, “There have been multiple indications. The same thing that you guys told me Scott went through when he first turned. Every time there is a loud noise, she covers her ears. At first, I thought she maybe just had a mental issue until I saw other things too.” I explained.

“See? Even Argent agrees with me.” Jackson added triumphantly. I sighed. I hated being on his side in the argument, but it's what I truly believed. I wasn’t going to ignore my gut feeling.

“Today in detention, I asked her for a new pencil and she told me that she heard millions of pencils drop out of my bag.” I continued, “I counted, and I only dropped five."

“If she was a normal human being, she would have heard the notebooks.” Stiles thought out loud. His mind obtaining all the signs.

“In the car, she was weird around Aunt Kate, she teased me about what Stiles and I were talking about in the classroom, and I can’t even start on how many times she's been shady.”
323Please respect copyright.PENANAq5aBHDtPkz
“Define shady.” Allison stated.
323Please respect copyright.PENANAbUfw3eRMa8
“She has been lying to me the whole day.” I told her.
323Please respect copyright.PENANAcRUuHgFjK3
“How would you know?” She mockingly asked.
323Please respect copyright.PENANA6WTj5jNEon
Gosh, I hate when she does that.
I’m pretty sure all siblings do it. She doesn’t believe me. But she doesn’t know that I was taught to know when someone lies to me. I had worked on the skill for weeks, just like my other ones. But Allison didn’t know that. She hasn’t been trained yet. And as far as she knows, I haven’t been either. Aunt Kate and I have kept it a secret for seven years.

“Doesn’t matter. That girl’s a werewolf. What are we going to do about it?” Jackson cut in. The whole room was quiet.

“This doesn’t prove anything.” Scott muttered.

“Laura, we need to see her actually turn before we make accusations.” Allison told me. I looked down at Stiles. I could sense that the gears inside his head were turning. He looked back up at me and I felt my stomach do a backflip.

“Well, what if we figure out if she knows about the supernatural first? I mean if we want to, we can ask directly and see if she reacts. Worst-case scenario, we play it off, like it was a joke.” Scott suggested.

“No, she’d see right through us. She isn’t stupid.” Allison scoffed.

“Alright, I got one. This is going to sound sketchy but it's the best thing I can come up with.” Stiles announced.

“We give her a sedative, and lock her in one of the jail cells at the police station. My dad sometimes locks me in there when I won't stop talking,"
I let out a small laugh.
"let me tell you, those things are indestructible.” he said jokingly. I know that he was trying to make light of the situation, but I believe him 100%.

“Sounds like a plan.” Jackson said brightly. I cringed slightly. Jackson's ego had to be soaring by now. Scott takes his phone out of his pocket.
323Please respect copyright.PENANAuaznVax2o4
“Okay,” he muttered. “There will be a full moon this weekend on Saturday,” he added. I could tell everyone was uneasy about the idea. Even Stiles himself. I don’t think anyone wanted to lock an innocent, (or so we think is innocent) human being in a jail cell. Something about it just didn’t feel right at all.

The chime of the alarm system went off, as Lydia and Sydney walked through the door, carrying bags of supplies for the project.

“Alright,” Lydia stated. “Let's get started.”

Jackson's whole body was currently taking up the couch as he snored. Scott and Allison were sleeping on the little chair next to the couch, and Lydia had just finished adding the finishing touches, and went to lie with Jackson.

I was gluing the final pieces of the project onto the board when I heard a wrapper opening. I look up. Sydney was in the corner of the room eating another twinkie that she had gotten from the store. I smiled. For someone who has a hard shell on the outside, she sure has a soft spot for twinkies. She looked up after shoving a whole one in her mouth.
323Please respect copyright.PENANAITRJcJ5TSw
“You want one?” She asked cautiously. I could tell that it was hard for her. I didn’t know her background, but I could tell that she wasn’t used to sharing. I accepted the gesture.

“Thanks.” I replied as she wound up her arm to throw it to me. Then she stopped, and pointed at something. I turned my head and suddenly realized there was weight, falling on my shoulder. And it was Stiles, sound asleep.
323Please respect copyright.PENANAaKITAdP6Vm
“Awwww, he's sleeping.” I blurted, trying to hide my ridiculous smile. I looked up to see Sydney with a smirk across her face.
It was definitely the same face I made at Allison when she first introduced me to Scott. I could tell that my sister had a thing for him. She had told me about him before the party.
"Laura, GUESS WHAT? Scott did.... blah blah blah."
I then realized that I have flipped spots. And that I am currently 'The Allison' in this situation. And that Sydney is now me. Oh lord.
323Please respect copyright.PENANAh3qHZDIvXU
“What?” I retorted.
“Oh, nothing.” She sarcastically shrugged

“Hey, can you help me glue this last piece on?” I asked.
323Please respect copyright.PENANAtcAouWSB4n
“Don’t want to wake your boyfriend?” she teased in turn, but she got up. She walked over and helped me glue the piece on. She had also brought the twinkie over and tossed it into my lap.

The word had smacked me in the face as if it were a baseball.

“What- boyfriend? Stiles, he’s- he’s not my boyfriend.” I said, avoiding eye contact while opening the twinkie.
323Please respect copyright.PENANAJWY8qjHls8
“Maybe not currently.” she commented.
323Please respect copyright.PENANAntM2U6hcsk
“Shhhh, we are not talking about this right now,” I hissed. “He is ‘asleep’ on my arm, and we are literally in the same room as his best friend, my sister. For all we know, they could be pretending to sleep.”
323Please respect copyright.PENANAgZmremlGnN
“I doubt they’re pretending. You just don’t want to talk about it because you like him and don’t think he likes you back.” she stated, bluntly.
323Please respect copyright.PENANAIU1Mdx7Rh1
“Well I-” I stutter, realizing part of that statement was true. I shoved the thought out of my brain. She was getting in my head, and trying to make me question myself.
323Please respect copyright.PENANANQ1I32ugJV
“You’re probably a bit insecure about it, and think that there’s no way he could feel the same.” she continued.
323Please respect copyright.PENANAPyQBYZdAjH
“I don’t think that.” I refused. “He is one of my closest friends, I don’t like him in that way.”
323Please respect copyright.PENANAH676HhLdN5
“So we’re both still liars then? It is very obvious. I’m sure he already knows.” she replied thoughtfully.
323Please respect copyright.PENANA4noR33XtSH
“Why are you so persistent?” I asked, desperately trying to change the conversation, and getting annoyed at the fact that she wouldn't let the topic go.
323Please respect copyright.PENANA3fy7o5M44f
“Because it’s true. It’s a fact and since you’ve lied to me, I was just trying to confirm some sort of truth about you. I guess I’ve done that.” she responded simply.
323Please respect copyright.PENANAndCjSdXXNh
“Cool, I’ve done the same with you," I stated, all of the emotions I had been compressing, coming out in a huge jumble of words.
"You live by yourself. I can tell by the way you eat. You’ve lived by yourself for a long time. But you think it's okay because you learned how to protect and defend yourself. You don’t have any food either. You only eat at school. That's why you are so skinny. Oh- but you know, I’m just trying to confirm.” I retorted.
323Please respect copyright.PENANA1URbpURDsE
I immediately felt bad. I was tired, and slightly cranky. But that doesn’t excuse the fact that I had just invaded a personal issue that was none of my business.
323Please respect copyright.PENANAMN7ZWh1OSD
She looked shocked for a moment then hurt. However, it was only there for a split second before her expression was blank. “Yeah, thanks for clearing that up. Hard to get food and all and manage your life when your parents are dead.” she snapped but I could tell it was half-hearted.
323Please respect copyright.PENANAJv3qDQgRff
“You know, you’re acting like you are the only person going through this? I am fortunate enough to have people to look after me, and for that, I am thankful. But you cannot act like you are the only one. I know people who have stuff like that too."
323Please respect copyright.PENANA1TcvI70ZsI
“You have no idea what I’ve been through. You don’t know anything about my life. I can act like this, because I know that I am the only one. Everyone’s situation is different. You don’t know how it feels. You don’t know anything about the hell I’ve gone through. It isn’t like it matters though.” she retorted.
323Please respect copyright.PENANAoA9sfg9eIn
“I’ve been told it plenty enough,” she added in a small whisper but I just caught it.
323Please respect copyright.PENANAiburYQGBGJ
When she’d said it didn’t matter… that’s not what she was implying. It sounded like she had been saying I don’t matter. She didn’t make eye contact and was staring at her hands, covered in cake crumbs.

“You’re right. I don’t understand, every situation is different. My best friend went through a similar situation. It’s important to know that it’s not just you. You aren’t alone in this crazy world. At least, not anymore. It’s important to talk to people. Human beings need social interaction to survive. It's a proven fact. You are putting too much stress on yourself. I hate arguing with you, it's putting stress on me. Now that you know that I know, tomorrow we can have an honest conversation.”
323Please respect copyright.PENANA9ePkLx0tex
“You hardly know anything. I don’t need to have an honest conversation with you. Human beings need to feel safe too. That helps mental health and just provides a sense of comfort. Being alone makes me feel safe. It’s easy to live when the only person you trust is yourself.” she murmured.

I sighed. My brain was starting to slow. There's no point in trying, I can’t change who a person is, nor their opinion. Sydney went back to eating her twinkies as if the conversation hadn’t even happened. My eyelids started to get heavy as I fought the feeling of sleep, that crept into my brain. I let my head gradually lower, until my whole body was laying on something- but I couldn’t tell what.
