Dear Sam,
As you probably know, I've switched therapists over the last month and I finally found one that I think is a good match for me. After my second session, she told me to try and write a cover letter for myself. Not for job-hunting, but rather a cover letter for friendship building. A letter convincing someone to be your friend. She told me to write it, and if I was satisfied with it, send it to my closest friend or family member. So here goes.
Dear Samantha,
I am writing to express my strong interest in applying for the role of "friend" after meeting initially in a arts seminar two weeks ago. I believe I am well suited to the role and can demonstrate a strong skill-set in relation to the roles you have laid out based our conversation that day.
My interest in the role was initially sparked by the conversation we had in the arts seminar when we exchanged contacts and got to know each other as aspiring artists within the manga and comic scene. As a child I've loved drawing, but while I've fallen out of love with the medium in my school years, as an adult I have returned to the scene initially as a hobby, but now as my full time job. I've learnt that we share similar interests and similar views to the space and industry we belong in, and would love to know more about you if I am given the opportunity to take up this amazing role.
While I might not necessarily bring a large breadth and depth of experience to this role, I believe I have a range of suitable attributes and strengths that will suit this role well. Over time I have been building up a steady range of skills that I believe will ultimately be what helps me cross the line to becoming a successful friend of yours.
Please let me know of your decision when you are comfortable with doing so, and if you have any questions please let me know via mail or text. Thank you for your kind consideration.
Best regards,
Lily
