Dearest Samantha,
Hope you're settling in well in university. It's been a long journey for you but I hope you are fitting in well and are having a good time in Edinburgh. I think recently I've seen in the newspapers that there's an upsurge in crime over there. So please stay safe and try not to get yourself in any situations where you find you are uncomfortable.
I feel like It's been a long long while since we last wrote to each other. Since you've been in boarding school last year, I've moved out of the family house and into my own little flat. Your dad is living with Emma and I'm living with Sabrina. I don't know if any of your sisters have told you but I don't think we'll be moving back with each other. It's not easy having to adjust to a different life but I think Sabrina and I are finally living the way we want to live, with this chance in scenery.
I just wanted to tell you that no matter what happens, and no matter what you decide to do during university and after university. Whether you decide to come back or stay in Edinburgh is up to you, and I'll be supportive of whatever decisions you end up making.
As you might already know, Sabrina is entering her final year and she'd like to go to the UK to study as well. It's very difficult to handle procedures on our side logistically, so do you reckon you can help with her application? Since you're already there for almost four years now we'd thought you would be familiar with the country and be able to provide some help, especially since you have the know-how of how to go about applying for the universities around the area at a younger age.
I haven't promised Sabrina anything yet, but she was the one who suggested it and she's very interested in studying abroad. I haven't worked out the finances with your dad yet but I think we'll need to think about it at this point, maybe you can let me know about the application process first. Thanks.
All the best,
Mum
