This isn't a date. If it was a date...i dunno. He asked me to catch a movie with him on Saturday. That sounds like a date. Except, he didn't use the word 'date' in his sentence. This is a lot difficult than I imagined. When i told Jaime about me and Cyr's conversation, she was super happy for me and pretty stoked about me hanging out with Cyr on Saturday. Now she's helping me prepare for it.
"It's not really a date. I mean, I know that most couples go see a movie on Saturday and it's a date but he didn't exactly say the word 'date'. Then again, most people these days don't use the word date. They say 'go out' or..."
"Hang out?" I asked.
Jaime nodded. "Exactly."
"So....it is a date?"
Jaime shrugged. "You can ask but it might freak him out."
"Why?"
"Because, he doesn't see you as boyfriend material yet and if you straight up call your hang out a date then...possibly."
I groaned then plopped down on my bed. It's currently Friday night. The rest of the school week went by with a breeze and now i'm stressing out on whether my 'hang out' is a date or not and Jaime isn't helping one bit.
"I'm sorry if i'm not helping much. It's kinda difficult to read Cyr."
"You're telling me. He told me himself that he liked me even though all this time, I thought he didn't."
"Well, my advice is just hang out with him and see what he does." Jaime said then sat down in my computer chair and faced me.
"Normally when two people hang out, both of them pay for their own popcorn and drink. If Cyr pays for your popcorn and drink too then it's a date."
I sat upright and looked at Jaime. "But what if he buy's a large bag of popcorn and we share it?"
Jaime shrugged. "I would still call that a date. Especially if he's suggesting you two share instead of buying separately."
I nodded. "What about drinks?"
"If you two buy separate drinks, it's not a date. Most of the time, couples share drinks."
I nodded again. "What about where we sit in the theatre?"
Jaime rubbed her chin. "I dunno. I think most couples sit in the back because they want privacy so if Cyr suggests that you two sit in the back then it's a date."
"What about how Cyr dresses?"
Jaime smirked. "Obviously if Cyr dresses up for said 'hang out', it's a date."
"What if he compliments me?"
"It's a date. Look, just watch for Cyr's body language and what he says or does okay? If he says or does things out of the ordinary, it's a date. Now, let's plan your outfit." She said then stood up and walked over to my closet.
"You normally don't wear button up shirts. How about your blue and white checkered button up shirt with black skinny jeans and your converse? Ooh~ And you can even through in a few rubber bracelets that you have."
"I guess i'm lucky I have you around huh?"
"Yep. Without me, you'll be an utter mess."
I smiled. I was starting to feel pretty good about myself and this sorta 'date'. Even though Cyr said he can't be with me right now, I still feel like this is turning into a date. Oh well. I'll just have to wait and see.
