'That woman seems to know a lot about me so I need to know something about her.' I thought typing furiously into the computer in school.
'Raibaru Femestu.' I hit the 'Enter' key and wait. It takes some time thanks to the school's faulty Wi-Fi system but the results show.
'Nothing on that woman.' I scroll down. 'No social media accounts, no active phone numbers, no friends, no family members...'
Frustrated, I turn off the computer. 'Nothing! She's like a ghost!'
'How about looking into her friend instead?'
I type in the name and was shown a picture of a teenage girl with orange hair matching the color of her eyes.
'She looks attractive...and familiar.' I put a hand on my chin. 'Have we met?'
I keep reading and find almost nothing on the girl except her parents and from the looks of things, she was the only child. Nothing about her friends, her hobbies, or her likes and dislikes.
"So far, the only thing interesting about this girl is how she died," I mutter. "Not to mention the information on her looks old."
'Old or fake?'
Confused, I ask, 'Fake?'
'The lady said she passed away during the year 2012.'
This made me take another look at the date she passed on and discovered something. 'It says she passed on on July 24th, 2012.'
'And July is a Summer Holiday.'
'Yet she was found in her school uniform.' I zoom in on the picture of her corpse and take a screenshot of it. Hooking my phone to the computer, I download the picture and look at it.
"What made you take your own life Osana?"
'Maybe we can find more information when we come into the school at night.'
'Yeah. Who knows? That ghost in the Headmaster's Office can help except...'
'He passed on when the Headmaster was found dead in his office.'
'So what date did the Headmaster pass away?' I type that and discovered he died in 2017 after the school was sold to a woman called Genka Kunahito.' I type in the name. 'It looks like she is a woman in her late twenties. Could this mean she is the Headmistress of Akademi High?'
'If she is, why is she operating from the shadows?'
The question remained unanswered. The bell rang for lunch so I delete my search history and turn off the computer. Picking a quiet corner at the end of the hall, I sit on a chair and start eating.
'The food tastes strange.' squirming, I take another bite, roll the morsel of food in my mouth, grab a tissue from my bag and spit out the food.
"Aww, does it taste bad Emma?"
I look, see Agatha, and put the pieces of the puzzle together. "Seriously?"
"You said you could handle anything," she said with a smirk. "Surely you could handle eating that piece of crap."
My stomach began to churn. Standing up immediately, I rush to the bathroom and throw up on the toilet.
'Dang it! The b!tch put laxatives in my food!'
'How many times do I have to scold you for swearing?'
Its words gave me a slight headache but it passed quickly when my stomach churned. I double down and throw up again.
'Great! Now I am hungry again!'
Click!
I turn around and see a pair of feet running out bathroom but choose to ignore it. Washing my hands in the basin, I quickly go back to my corner and see a crowd of students staring at their phones with the contents of my bag on the floor.
"Oh my gosh!"
"It's true!"
"She really is pregnant."
"The b!tch!"
"How could she!"
My heart skipped a beat because the last thing I needed was for someone to look into my phone. Pushing through the crowd of students, I look at the ground and see it on the floor next to a positive pregnancy test. Heaving a sigh of relief, I get down to pick them up leaving the pregnancy test behind.
"You are a b!tch! You know that?"
From my crouching position, I look behind me and see Valarie staring at me with her hands planted on her hips.
"Oh! How I'm I a b!tch?"
"First you lure Brandon to school causing him to be killed by the demon then date and dump the man I love! Now you are dating a teacher who is married with kids!" she pointed at me. "To top it off, you caused him to get fired thus ruining his reputation and who knows what his wife will do if she finds out! You should be ashamed of yourself!"
Then the crowd of students started muttering amongst themselves but it was okay. I was used to this.
"And you believe that?" I ask.
"Who won't believe it? There is a pregnancy test in your bag and the picture of you throwing up in the girl's room." with that she shoved the screen at my face. "What further proof do we need?"
This made me chuckle. "Wow! That's rich coming from a girl who tried to force me into selling Jake to her."
Valarie's face flushed with embarrassment while I lifted up my chin with arrogance.
"I have my dignity Valarie and whether you guys believe me or not is none of my business. I guess this proves that humans can never change no matter the environment."
"I believe you."
Jake's voice echoed through the hall as he walked towards me and before I could react planted his lips on mine.
My arms trembled dropping my bag and my knees would have buckled if it hadn't been for my inner voice telling me to get a grip.
But how could I?
His lips are so...
So...
So soft.
He broke away from the kiss and look at me in the eye. "Beloved, why didn't you tell me you were pregnant?"
I was still trying to recover from the kiss he gave me.
"Why didn't you tell me? Could it be that...I am the father?"
The crowd of students gasped.
"What? That's impossible! You can't be the father of the child! You guys broke up..."
But Jake interrupts her. "Was that the reason why you broke up with me? You were too shy to tell me right?"
I could feel my face cheeks turn red as he caressed my face.
"I understand and..." he gets down on one knee and pulls out a red velvet box from his pocket. "...I promise to be a good father."
Then he opened it revealing a diamond ring. "Beloved, will you marry me?"
"WHAT?" Valarie shrieked while my jaw dropped.
"Bu...but Jake, I...I am not pre...pregnanat!" I say trying so hard to stop myself from smiling because...
"That's not true considering what happened in the corn field back in your hometown," he replied.
I was confused. "Th...the cornfield?"
"Don't you remember Beloved? That night while your Aunt and the rest of your relatives were sharing stories by the campfire you took me aside saying you had a surprise for me. Wearing matching blue kimonos that blended into the darkness, you took my hand dragging me deeper and deeper into the corn field. Suddenly you stopped and let go of my hands leaving me in the darkness. As I stood still, waiting for something to happen, you grabbed my hands, brought them to your chest, and..."
He paused still looking deep into my eyes.
"You were on top of me, your bosoms, soft as a dozen pillows colliding with my chest and whispered into my ear that this was your first time. Then like a puzzle piece fitting perfectly into a picture, our bodies became one in blissful pleasure under the cover of darkness. The corn stalks surrounding us rustled despite the fact it wasn't windy and...well..." he turned red and looked away. "Do I need to say more?"
Suddenly the vision of Jake half naked with disheveled hair laying on the grass surrounded by cornstalks flashed before my eyes and I blushed.
'Why I'm I blushing? I have seen him naked before but there was nothing romanticly attached to it but now...'
What brought me back to reality was something dropping to the floor followed by a loud gasp from the students. It was a male student and from the looks of things, he had been nose bleeding the whole time.
"Oh my gosh!"
"Is he okay?"
"Ignore him."
"He always does that when he hears something lewd."
"Ugh! Pervert."
Valarie looked at the student as someone attended to him then at us and balled her fists in fury.
"That's a lie! There is no way she could be pregnant for you over the span of two weeks," she yelled.
Jake turned to her and smirked. "Then how comes she is pregnant for the Math teacher?"
"What?"
He rose to his feet with a smirk on his face. "I recently discovered that signs of pregnancy show after one or two months and this incident happened two weeks before the summer was over. I did the math and realized there is no way she would show signs of pregnancy within two weeks even if she sleeps with someone so the baby is mine."
Every one started murmuring again.
"Yeah."
"He has a point."
"There is no way she could be pregnant."
"Could this mean Agatha was lying?"
"Impossible!"
"She is always honest isn't she?"
My eyes grew as wide as saucepans. 'They are believing his story! Cr@p! What I'm I going to do?'
'Would you rather like it if they believed that you and the Math Teacher were having an affair?'
"NO!"
Everyone was looking at me in shock and my face turns red once more. Quickly grabbing my bag, I shove through the crowd and run down the hall.
"I AM NOT PREGNANT AND I AM GOING TO PROVE IT TO YOU! GIVE ME TWO DAYS AND I WILL BRING THE DOCTOR'S PAPERS TO YOU!"
"How are we sure you aren't going to fake it?" Valarie yelled but I ignore her and run until I was out of the school and into my apartment.
Slamming the door behind me, I slide to the ground and bite my bottom lip. 'OMG! OMG! OMG! What was that all about?'
Then the image of him laying on the ground half naked flashed before my eyes. Soon, I was racking my brain at where he got that idea from and came out empty.
'You do know that he just said that to bail you out right?'
I ignore it and bring my knees together. 'The idiot. He even got down on one knee and proposed to me. If...If I hadn't run away...'
'You would have accepted his proposal right?'
This made me bury my face in my knees.
'Enough brooding. You have to eat well and get some rest if you are going to look for the ghost of Osana Najimi.'
I calm my beating heart and prepare lunch. As I ate, my phone blared with tons and tons of notifications but I choose to ignore them. Laying on my futon, I shut my eyes and get some sleep.
Later that night in school...
The school was quiet.
Too quiet.
No ghosts.
No vengeful spirits.
Nothing.
'Something is off here.' I thought heading straight to the Headmaster's office but upon opening the door, I find it empty.
The ghost wasn't there.
'Where is he?' I ask and look around. 'Well the least I could do is look around and see if there is anything on Osana.
So I look through the files in the cabinet, see her files and open them.
SHE IS IN THE AUDITORIUM
'The auditorium? That's where she was found dead!' I slam the file shut and run out of the room. Racing through the halls, I finally make it to the doors leading to the auditorium and open them.
"Why, Ms. Cross-wood. I didn't think you would make it." the ghost said.
I look around the auditorium and see nothing out of the ordinary.
He grinned. "Oh, so you are looking for Osana? She's over there."
The lights in the auditorium turned on and on the stage, a figure of a girl from a nose could be seen, her long orange hair flapping in the draft as she swayed from side to side.
Taking out my phone, I tried getting a picture of her but I couldn't see her through it so I videotape the whole ordeal.
"O...Osana? Is that you?" walk closer to the stage observing her features and taking note of some details.
Suddenly, she opened her eyes and glared at me.
"Osan..."
She disappeared.
"What the..."
"IDIOT!"
The voice was so loud and her face was so close to mine when she yelled at me. Pain shot through my body like a rush of adrenaline and I fall to the ground.
The ghost which lead me here looked down at me and chuckled. "I said she was here. I didn't say she wouldn't bite did I?"
Its laugh echoed through the auditorium and I close my eyes.
