Two days later…
'To dial or not to dial...' I tap the phone on my palm in agitation. 'Why I'm I debating this? I should just call him and ask if he knows Osana Najimi. Nothing serious right?'
With that, I dial his number and wait.
“Hello?” asked a male voice.
“Hello? Is this Kyuji Konagawa?"
“Yes? Who is this?"
I paused for a moment, biting my bottom lip. "Good evening sir. Please I want to talk to you about Osana Najimi..."
Click!
I stare at my phone in shock and dial the number again and he picked it up. "Sir I...
"I don't know what you are up to Raibaru but cut the act! I mean it! If you call me again, I am going to get a restraining order against you understand?”
“What?”
“I am not the cause of Osana’s death okay? So leave me alone!”
Click.
I stare at my phone in shock. Ms. Fumetsu was harassing this guy?
"Maybe that's why she had so much hatred in her voice when she talked about him." I muse out loud. Dropping my phone next to me, I let out a huge sigh. "Looks like I have to track him down to get answers from him."
It takes 24 hours from here to Tokyo City so I buy a plane ticket and spend the rest of the day preparing for the trip tomorrow. Early in the morning the next day, I was dragging my hand luggage through the living room and was just about to open the front door when someone knocked on it. Peeking through the peephole, I see Julia and open it.
"Hi Emma." she greeted cheerfully.
I ignore her and shut the door behind me.
"Where are you going?" she asks and frowns when I give her the cold shoulder. "I asked you a question you b!tch!"
"It's none of your business Julia," I reply locking the door and hauling my hand luggage down the stairs.
"I make it my business because I am your neighbor and I live next to you!" she yells. "Emma? Don't you dare ignore me! Emma! Get back here! EMMA!"
She tries to stop me from putting my hand luggage into the taxi but I shrug her off and get in. Failing in with that action, she tries to stop me from entering the taxi but I push her out of my way, get in and lock the doors.
She huffs and hurries back to her room.
"Step on it!" I say.
"Where to ma'am?" asks the driver.
We hear a crash and see something being tossed out of Julia's room. "Tomake Airport!" I slip the money into his hands. "Step on it or she will wreck your car!"
No one needed to tell him twice. Stomping his foot on the accelerator, we zoomed off down the street and looking back, I see Julia rushing down the stairs with her hand luggage and sigh at her stupidity.
Honestly, what was that girl thinking?
Luckily, I get to the airport in time. It takes a few minutes to go show them my ticket and go through the security checks. Now I am sitting in the airport terminal looking at the huge window facing the runway.
"Relax he won't find you here," I whispered to myself. "He doesn't know you are here."
'What if you are wrong?'
I shake the voice out of my head and concentrate on the people bustling about. Then my mind traveled back to Caleb and his father Moon. It was three days after the incident and I took them to my apartment to stay for the time being. How he did do it? I will never know but one night he disappeared and reappeared the next morning with their things and credentials saying they had to leave because he didn't want the rest of his wife's family to find them.
"Are you sure you don't want to come with us, ma'am?" Caleb asked as the voice announced their flight.
I shake my head. "Sorry but I have some unfinished business to take care of here."
Caleb looked sad for a moment but his father hugged him saying we would meet someday soon.
'I don't know which plane they boarded but I hope they are happy wherever they are.'
'I hope so too.' said my inner voice.
Soon we were told to board the plane. I didn't have much luggage with me, so they permitted me to carry my bag into the plane and place it in the overhead bin above me. The flight, of course, was a one-day flight and by the time I get there, I was exhausted but relieved.
"So this is the famous Tokyo City," I said walking out of the airport with my luggage. "It's so big!"
Yep! The city was big. With tall buildings, busy roads, and stores at every corner. Videos of adverts played from one billboard screen to another but what caught my attention was a store selling manga.
"Wow! They have every available manga here!" I exclaim and my face fell when I saw the price tag. "But it's way off my budget."
"Not when I am here."
I look around and see the kitsune grinning at me from ear to ear.
"Dip your hand into your bag," it ordered.
I do so and out came a wad of cash.
"Wow! Is this for real?" I asked.
It nodded. "Go ahead and spoil yourself but don't spend it all on the manga!"
It was too late for I was already in the store buying the new volume of the manga everyone was talking about, 'The Spy Family.'
"I am going to read this series until my eyes turn red," I say coming out with a full bag.
The kitsune sighed and started walking away. "Just don't forget why you are here. Come. I have found you a place to stay."
It leads me to a hotel and after checking in and settling down in my room, I take out my phone to look up the address of Kyuji Konagawa workplace.
"So, you work in Kazinas Furniture Company eh?" I hum and turn off my phone. "The distance from the hotel to his workplace is a little further away from where I am staying so my best bet is to wake up early tomorrow morning to get there on time. I hope he grants me an audience."
So, I wake up early the next day and after a quick shower, I dress up and head to his office. Now the early morning sun was up and I was standing before a tall white building decorated with brown stripes.
'Hmm, should I go in and ask to see him?' I put a hand on my chin in thought and shake my head. 'No. It's a bad idea! He would think that I am some kind of stalker or something. What if I corner him during his lunch break? No! Maybe he would be having lunch inside the building and what he said about Ms. Fumestu...'
I take a huge gamble and start walking towards the entrance of the building to look for him but the doors suddenly swing open and two men walk through them. Quickly, I turn left pretending to be passing by but look back just in time to see one of the men had red hair while the other had black hair with red highlights.
'Maybe that's Mr. Konagawa?' I take out my phone and look at his picture. 'Let's find out shall we?'
So I follow them at a safe distance and they lead me to a park. Hiding behind a huge shrub and watching them sit on a bench beside a huge pond, I take a closer look at the man and compare it with the picture on my phone.
'It is him!' I squint my eyes at him. 'But what are they doing here during work hours?'
The one with red highlights took out a paper bag and unwrapped it revealing a sandwich. "Why do you look so agitated, man? Is something bothering you?"
"Nothing dude it's just..." Kyuji trailed off.
The man who seemed to be his friend smiled. "Don't worry, I know what's going on."
"You do?" he asks.
"Yeah. You are looking for an escort to take to that reunion of yours right?"
The flustered look on Kyuji's face said it all. "Kira! What did I tell you about eavesdropping on my conversation?"
"Don't blame me, dude. Everyone heard you talking about it on the phone." the man takes a bite of his sandwich and grinned. "They were saying something about her bailing out on you right?"
"Oi! Don't talk with your mouth full!" Kyuji snapped turning beet red.
"Okay, okay." he gulped. "Why do you need an escort anyway?"
He bit his lip. "You see, Budo Matusa called me the day before to tell me about the reunion and I let it slip that had a hot girlfriend."
"You mean you 'lied' that you had a hot girlfriend." his friend corrected.
Suddenly I had a lightbulb and stand up from my crouching position. Taking my hair ribbon off, I quickly search for what an escort does, (since I had little knowledge of the profession), comb my fingers through my hair and walk out of my hiding place.
"Why don't you just come clean and tell them you don't have one?" asked his friend.
"Are you kidding? He must have told the rest by now and what excuse will I give them when I come alone?"
"You can tell them your girlfriend dumped you at the last minute?" joked his friend and that earned him a punch on the shoulder. "Okay, okay, but good luck trying to find one. Escorts these days are expensive and the cheap ones are as ugly as f&ck."
"Why? Does this mean I am ugly sir?" I ask.
Shocked to hear a sound behind them, both men turned and laid their eyes on me. I smile, close my eyes, and wink while making a cute noise like any cute anime girl would make.
Upon seeing me, his friend quickly wiped the breadcrumbs from his mouth and gave me a cocky smirk.
"And who might you be Ms..."
"Oh call me Anastasia," I say putting my hand on my breast. "And it's a pleasure to meet you."
"Why it is a pleasure to meet you my lady." his friend replied. "And what bring you here?"
I catch the blush on Kyuji's face as his eyes wandered to my boobs and gave a cute smile. "I am looking for customers."
"Cu...cu...customers?" babbled Kyuji.
"Yes. You see I am an escort and..."
At this, The man's eyes lit up and he quickly wrapped his arm around Kuyiji's neck. "This guy here is looking for right?"
This brought upon an awkward silence which thankfully lasted for a few minutes before I said, "...and business hasn't been going well. I happen to overhear one of you talking about hiring an escort.
"So?" grunted Kuyiji.
"So I was wondering if..." I put both my forefingers together in an attempt to look shy. "...if I could be of service."
"Sorry, I am not hiring," Kuyiji said.
"What you aren't hiring her?" exclaimed his friend.
"Well..." Kyuji began but his face was grabbed by his friend who forced him to look at me.
"Look at her man! Just look at her!" he said. "You aren't going to find another babe like her to brag to your friends plus, private escorts like her are cheap man! Cheap!"
"In that case, why doesn't she have a website or a social media account to help promote her business?" asked Kyuji.
"Well," sweat trickled down the back of my head as I scrambled for a lie. "I am not good at using computers and I don't have enough money to hire someone to create a social media account. Besides, I am new to this job so..."
I trial off at that point and smiled cutely despite the sweat behind the back of my head. 'Oh no! He is looking at me with suspicion in his eyes!' this made me grimace. 'Besides, my father would be rolling in his grave if he sees me doing this,'
'Believe me, he is.' said my inner voice.
Meanwhile, his friend was convincing him to hire me because not only was I cheap, I was easy to manipulate into giving him a cheaper service and this made the situation more uncomfortable for me.
"What if they are fake?" asked Kyuji.
"Huh? What are fake?" I innocently ask.
"Your boobs," Kyuji said pointing at them. "Are they fake?"
'My gosh, he is rude!' I thought shaking my head.
"Hey! That's rude of you man! And yes they are real!" yelled his friend.
"Oh yeah?" Kyuji folded his arms. "And how do you know they are real?"
"From experience man! Experience."
"Seriously?" he asked giving him a grim face.
"Listen, dude, I have bedded a lot of women and seen a lot of boobies so as an expert on the ladies, I can gladly tell you that her boobs are as real as two giant grapefruits."
'Giant grapefruits?' I felt my right eye twitch and a vein popped out of my forehead. 'The audacity.'
Meanwhile, Kyuji sighed and took a closer look at me. I knew he was hesitating from the look in his eyes and he when he gave looked away, I thought it was all over.
That is until he gave me his business card.
"The event is on Thursday this week." he said as I looked at his business card which had his phone number and business address. "Besides, how much do you cost anyway?"
With eyes glowing with anticipation, I say, "Three hundred yen."
"Three hundred yen?" he yelled.
His reaction filled me with worry. "What's wrong? If it is too expensive I can..."
"Dude! I told you her kind are cheap!" exclaimed his friend and a wave of relief wash through me.
Kyuji stared at me before looking away blushing. "Okay. I...I will pay you at the end of the night."
I nod and reach out to peck him on the cheek making him flame up like a tomato. "Understood. I will see you this week Thursday?"
He gives a stiff nod and I run off.
"Oi! I hope you aren't going to charge me for accessories and stuff!" he yelled.
"Nope! I got it! Thank you!" I yell back blowing him an air kiss while running out of the park. Once I was in the streets, I bend down and groan.
'I can't believe I sold myself for three hundred yen!'
'I can and I am angry about it.'
'I wonder what your issue...'
Listen Emma, if you sleep with that man...'
'I know, I know. I won't do that.' I stand up and straighten myself. 'Looks like I have some shopping to do.'
'Just don't pick anything revealing.' warned my inner voice.
I nod and look for a clothes shop.
