I grin up at my mum from where I am lying on my bed. “Please?” I push.
“No, Isaac, you cannot have a whole new pink wheelchair just for a dare.” She sighs tiredly, as she leaves the room. Damn, I almost thought I had her then. It’s not that I don’t know how much a new chair would cost me, but I’ve grown so much I’m going to need a new one soon and I’d quite like a colourful one to be honest. Maybe even pink, like my friend Jacob dared me to get. He said if I got a pink one, he’d give me all the sweets from his lunchbox for a whole month, and his parents always pack lots of sweets!
I grab my phone and I forget about it until the next day.
My mum is helping me put on my shoes when she glances at my wheelchair and says, “Oh, I forgot to say, I’ve booked an appointment for you to get fitted for a new chair.”
This is my chance, “A pink one?”
“Well, it’s your choice in the end Isaac, but I’m not going to buy you a new chair just because you don’t like pink anymore.” Yes! It worked!157Please respect copyright.PENANAKDqf6BWJqQ
“Yay! Thanks mum! I won’t ever grow out of liking colourful things, I promise!”
She laughs as she finishes my laces, “Well, you are only ten, remember. There’s still plenty of time.”
