In ancient texts, it was described as a lurking presence with fingers of smoke, that reach through the throats of the unfortunate and remove their souls. Soul would spend decades influencing the decisions of it's targets, leaning over their shoulders without them ever knowing that they were destined to be alone - cursed to do so, by Soul itself. Sometimes the moment would come sooner, sometimes later, but the victims would always find themselves, broken, lost and alone, with no hope and no future.
That's when it would kill them.
The rumours say it came about when the world did, that it crept from the realm of impossibility by sinking it's claws into reality and tearing a hole. Although, once it passed through, it's beastly form was hit by the sun and turned painfully to ashes, lost to the wind and lost to the world.
They called it 'Soul' because they believed it used the souls it took to turn it's ashes back into it's real body, and if you got close enough, you could hear their final words echoed to the present.
Over time, the tale has worn thin and faded away, since Soul hasn't been sighted, and hasn't attacked for thousands of years.
This changed tonight.
