Five Months Later…
“You’re going to be fine,” Winter assured Amelia as she ruffled out her skirt. “For the hundredth time, you look beautiful, Amelia.”
She shot her sister a glare. “Don’t have that annoyed tone with me, Winter. Have you ever gotten married?”
“No,” she admitted.
Not yet…
Amelia stepped down from the stool, giving Winter a concerned look. “Are you not ready?”
“No,” she said.
“You seriously don’t want to get married?” Amelia questioned in disbelief. “Haven’t you guys been together for a while now?”
Couldn’t she just drop it…?
Cameron and Winter were planning a low-key wedding for a while… And he told Winter that he just wanted it to be them together. He wanted to sign the marriage documents, but he didn’t want a ceremony… He was just going to take her away for a while.
Which probably meant no ceremony, but yes honeymoon.
But Winter went back to their previous conversation. “You look beautiful, Amelia. Sophia will love it.” She gestured to the door with a wave. “Now go before she thinks you left her at the altar.”
Winter smiled when Amelia shuffled out of the room, but stopped at the door when Winter didn’t move with her. “Are you not coming with?”
“I’ll be there soon,” she assured her.
Amelia nodded, then ran out of the room while holding up her skirts.
Winter waited a couple seconds, hearing her sister’s tapping footsteps get further and further away, though she kept her place, crossing her arms over her chest.
“You can come out now,” she said while staring at the door. “She’s gone.”
A low chuckle exhaled from her right as she stared at the door.
A shadow stepped out from behind a pillar in the dressing room, smiling as he made his way over to her.
Cameron tipped Winter’s chin up, brushing a gentle kiss along her lips before drawing her head to his chest.
“How long did you know I was there?” he wondered, amused.
“A while,” she admitted, smiling. “You should know by now that I can sense your presence.”
He smirked back. “I can sense you, too, Snowflake.”
“Mainly because you can read my mind.”
“True.”
And he drew back, his grin mischievous. “Is your sister going to be angry if you miss her wedding?”
Winter narrowed her eyes. “Why are you asking me this?”
“Because.”
“Because why?”
He rolled his eyes. “Just answer the question.”
“Probably not.”
He raised his brows, as to say, Really?
“Yes,” she said, “due to her being absent most of my life, she told me that I could spend time with you today if I wanted.”
“What did you say?”
“I said I would drag you to the wedding, and that we’ll spend time together here.”
“Hmm... I don’t remember you asking me to come here.”
“Hence, ‘drag.’”
He chuckled. “Well, now—since I came here—we’re going somewhere right now.”
She narrowed her eyes. “Why?”
“Because you forced me here against my will, and I had to spend time with your horrid teen boy cousins.”
“I believe you spent the majority of the time spying on me, Cameron.”
“No, I didn’t.”
“Then why were you hiding behind a pillar?”
He looked to the spot where she indicated, then back at her. “Okay, yes, I was spying on you, but I still was suffering boredom.”
“That was your choice, Cam.”
“Trust me,” he said, “your cousins are the worst.”
“I’m well aware. When I was little, they liked to shove me around and jump on me.”
He blinked for a moment. “What?”
“Never mind,” she said then. “Where are we going, Cameron?”
He narrowed his eyes. “First, I’m going to punch them.”
She caught his arm when he started toward the door. “No, it’s okay.”
“Can I punch them in the face?”
“No.”
“Why?” he said with a childish whine.
“No, Cameron.”
He sighed, using this opportunity to drag her against him, nuzzling his face in her hair. “I have a proposition.”
“Hmm?”
“Do you want to live with me...?”
She was silent for a moment. “I practically still do.”
“No...” he said softly, “like in a house... I bought one in Paris... and I thought you’d like it.”
PARIS?
HOW EXPENSIVE WAS THAT?
But she managed to keep her tone calm. “Is it an apartment?”
He shook his head.
“Townhome?”
“I’m not telling you. You’ll have to see for yourself, Snowflake.”
“When are we leaving?”
“The plane leaves in an hour... You were right when you told me we can’t be on the run anymore... And we don’t have to be, right? So I thought it would be good for us to settle in a home, right?”
“It took you five months to think of that?” she questioned.
“No... I realized you were right after we defeated Dante and Kit... I just couldn’t find the perfect place until a couple months ago.”
“The plane leaves in an hour?” she whispered.
“It’s now or never, Evans.”
She smiled. “Let’s escape this place.”

*****
Twenty minutes later, Cameron pulled up to their hotel in another car he stole, opening Winter’s door when she stepped out.
Why didn’t they go to the airport…?
Oh, right… they had to pack still…
He caught her hand and guided her to their room, pulling open the door and dragged her in.
She looked to him quizzically as he scooped her up and set her on the bed…
“The airport’s forty-five minutes away…” Winter said as Cameron sat next to her. “I thought the plane leaves in an hour….”
“I lied,” Cam stated, smirking.
So they weren’t going to Paris…?
A sudden sadness washed over her…
“About the time,” he corrected. “It leaves tomorrow at five in the morning. I just wanted to spend time with you.”
“Spend time with me?” she questioned. “Do you want me to swoon watching you read?”
He exhaled a chuckle. “It’s your pick tonight, Winter. Movie? Drawing contests?”
She stared off into space for a moment, clearly thinking as he leaned back on his hands, looking to her.
A sudden grin spread across her face, and he only had enough time to part his lips before a question when she vanished from sight.
And half-a-second later, he was lying on the bed, her on top of him, giggling.
“What’s this about?” he said, partly stunned.
She only looked into his eyes, her grey ones glowing with the lamps in the room.
“Ahhh,” he said, a fox smile forming when he read her thoughts, “someone’s feeling frisky, aren’t you?”
“Maybe,” she hinted. “You look so cute in your tuxedo and bow tie.”
“Take it off, and I might look cuter,” he said.
She let out another giggle, leaning down to lightly press her lips to his… a gentle kiss…
She then let go and pressed her forehead to his. “I love you, Cameron….”
“I love you, too, Snowflake….”
She smiled, the same words he repeated every day warming her heart…
He never failed to make her feel special…
Not even the day she met him…
“You know…” he started, staring off into her glowing gaze, “I’m just lying here… waiting… I’ll give you a hint, the bow tie first.”
Winter snickered, eyes closed as she pressed a gentle kiss to his cheek. “Alright.”
As she undid his bow tie, he looked to her softly, brushing some hair away from her face. “You look cute in that dress, Winter.”
She looked down to her handmade gown… the one he bought her a month ago that had frills, layers, and laces…
But then she looked up to him, smirking with the same look in her eyes as him when she repeated the sentence, “Take it off, and I might look cuter.”
