Zane opens the door and inside is a girl. The girl turns at the sound of the large door screeching open. “There you are Zane! I was starting to worry about-” She cuts off when she sees me. “Who’s the new guy,” She asks Zane inquisitively. Zane looks behind him to me before turning back towards the girl. “Oh this is the new guy his name is…” He trails off awkwardly and i realize i never told him my name. “I’m Alex.” I say as i walk to the girl. I stretch my hand out to shake her hand but she doesn’t return the gesture, she just looks at my hand slightly confused. I drop my hand to my side. “I’m Ayla,”She says breaking the awkward silence. “Now shouldn’t we stop wasting time and start training,” She asks sounding excited. “Wait training…” I ask slightly confused No one had said anything about training. “Yeah training, didn’t Zane tell you you’d start your training today?” Ayla asks glancing at Zane who has a surprised look on his face. He opens his mouth most likely to defend himself but Ayla rolls her eyes and interrupts. “Save it, we should start already.” She says walking over to one of the walls near the door and i finally take a moment to look around the cave I’m in. Its large with different weapons lining the walls closer to the doors. At the back half of the cave is something i didn’t expect to see. There’s a giant hole with a circular pillar in the middle the hole is glowing but i cant see why. I step closer to the edge careful not to fall and look down. Lava bubbles 20 feet beneath me and I stumble back. Its fine… they probably don’t want you burnt to a crisp right? “OK since its probably your first time ill go easy on you and we wont use weapons” Ayla says tightening white wraps around her knuckles. “It probably wouldn’t be good for you to get stabbed and sent to the infirmary.” She chuckles a bit before i ask “Where exactly are we supposed to fight” Ayla nods her head to the pool of lava as she finishes with her wraps. “Do you want some” she asks pointing to the wraps as if she hadn’t just announced that we were going to be fighting over literal lava.I look to the pool of lava and look Back at Ayla who is now braiding her hair. “Hold up, I don’t- I don’t want to fight over- over THAT!” I yell pointing to the still glowing ditch. The pillar in the middle of it looks smaller by the second. “Oh come on it wont be that bad.” She says walking toward the “Training center”. I look over to Zane for help arms crossed leaning on the wall he simply smirks at me. “Come on Alex! We gotta get started.” Ayla says as she reaches the edge of the pit. She claps her hands twice and I hear gears whirling as a metal bridge begins sliding from where she is to connect to the island like pillar. She walks across the bridge and starts stretching on the pillar. Its big enough to fight but small enough that you can fall off if you aren’t careful. I slowly make my way to the bridge and inch across it until i reach solid ground if i can even call it that. I start stretching trying not to focus on the bubble and pop of the death trap beneath me. All i have to do is not fall off that should be easy Ayla is shorter than me i should be able to overpower her but i don’t want her to fall off… “ALEX!” Ayla yells snapping me out of my thoughts. “What?” I’m slightly confused did she ask me something? “I said are you ready?” She says looking at me as she cracks her knuckles. “Yes” I manage to squeeze out. At least it anything goes wrong i can just go back across the bridge i think relieved. “Training Center activate fight mode.” Ayla yells her voice echoing off the walls. FIGHT MODE ACTIVATED. A female voice says from all around me. I hear the whirling of machinery and see the bridge retreating back into the other half of the room.
