Ever since I was little, I have been treated differently. All I ever wanted was to be treated as an equal. However, when you are destiny’s child, there is no such thing as equal. I am an angel born of wolves. My parents are both werewolf shifters. I’m an angel shifter. A rare power only a child of destiny gets. Or at least that’s what I’m told. There is a prophecy that an evil being will end the world and remake it according to their will. Of course, no one will die, and werewolves and angels will still exist, as well as humans but the terrain will change and so will the rules. One thing will remain, that is the true mate bonds… no one can change that.
“Alli, what are you doing sweetie?” mom comes into my room.
I look up at her from my desk, “Hey Mom, I was just drawing. I had a vision, and this is what I saw.” I show her my drawing of a shadowy figure holding a staff and swirls of magic changing the world around it.
“Oh my. That’s dark honey. Is it the prophecy?”
“I think so. Looks like my training will come in handy after all.”
“Well, you need to get ready, we will need to speak with the elders about this. Your sight may very well save us all.”
“Mom, do we have to? They think I’m… a curse.”
“They will change their minds. You are our savior.”
I sigh. “I wish I was like everyone else.”
“You are perfect just as you are. You’ve never been sick or injured in which you didn’t heal quickly, almost instantly.”
“You are saying that because you have to. You’re my mother.”
“You are beautiful and so are your wings. Now get ready.”
“Yes mom.”
I stand up out of my mahogany desk chair and put on some blue jeans, a tube top, and a button up shirt tied instead of buttoned. I then put shoes on.
“Okay Mom, I’m ready.” I say and walk out of my room.
We go into the pack house to speak with the elders. My long hair covers my burning cheeks. I hate talking to the elders. They are just so rude.
“Yes Cahla, Allissa, what can I help you with today.” Elder Shawn asks.
He’s tall, tan, greying hair, and has the most unique white eyes. Of course, all the elders have white glowing eyes… that’s how they become elders. Me on the other hand, I have long silver hair that shimmers in the light and sky-blue glowing eyes. My wings are white with silver specs within them. I’ve heard tales of angels whose wings turn to a different color based on their personality. I’m a pure soul so mine are pure.
“Allissa, pay attention. Is this really what you saw?” Elder Michael asks. He’s also tall and dark skinned with greying hair.
“Yes sir.” I say softly.
He bursts into laughter, when the other two elders look at him, he clears his throat.
“The whole prophecy is an old wolf's tail. It’s not real. You heard the story to many times I think.” Elder Michael says.
“I don’t know. It might actually be some truth to it. She is indeed an angel born from two wolf parents, and if she seriously saw this,” she holds up my drawing to the other elders, “I think we need to think more on this subject and start preparing for the worst.” Elder Ann speaks. She’s a little shorter than the males but her hair is silver tinged and black with tan skin. She is the mate of Elder Shawn.
“I don’t mean to disagree honey, but we don’t know if this will actually come about. That is but a legend.” Elder Shawn says, looking upon his mate.
“I think we need to consider the possibility that it is true, better to be prepared for trouble then to not be.” Elder Ann says.
“We will consider it, but I just think she’s looking for attention because she’s not like the rest of us and is looking for some sort of acceptance.” Elder Michael says.
“Michael… be nice. She has had a difficult life so far because she’s different, I accept her for who she is, you should too. She’s still a member of this pack even though she’s an angel.” Elder Ann argues.
“If I may, I’m not looking for acceptance in this instance. To be accepted would be wonderful, but that’s not why I’m here. I was told to tell you of my vision.” I say. “Otherwise, I wouldn’t be here.”
“It’s important to share your sight with us, whether we take it into consideration or not.” Elder Shawn says.
“I think this whole thing is a waste of time. The prophecy is just a myth. There isn’t truth to it.” Elder Michael says.
“Oh, skeptical one, angels aren’t born from wolves. Other angels sure, but not wolves.” I say narrowing my eyes at him. The start of my change has begun.
“We will consider what you brought before us today. Please let us know if anything else comes to mind.” Elder Ann says.
Mom and I headed back to our house on the edge of the forest. Where my wings were once white are now more silvery grey. I will show them. Michael will regret his words to me.
“Mom, I’d like to enroll in special training I have to leave the comforts of home to do so.” I say.
“What’s this all of a sudden?” she asks, surprise written on her face.
“No one will ever take me seriously the way I am now. I have to prove there is more to me than just a pretty face.”
Two Years Later:
Now 20 and trained, I head back to the Silver Pine Pack, I heard Michael wasn’t an elder anymore, he became blind and lost his elder abilities. I sneak into his cabin on the edge of the territory. He will be my first kill as an assassin. He betrayed the pack and that’s how he lost his sight, but because he was an elder, they couldn’t kick him out of the pack. They could only just strip him of his elder status. There is a new elder named Johnnathan, or John.
No one knew I was back in pack territory, part of my training was masking my scent and moving silently. I slowly take out my dagger and slash swiftly across his jugular causing him to wake up and move his hands to his slit throat before bleeding out rather quickly. I stand and watch as he takes his last breath, then I bolt out the door and take flight because the elders and the alpha are on their way.
The blood on my wings turns them from silver to pink spots to solid pink but light. I perch in a tree and watch as they remove the body from the house. Satisfied with my job, I jump down and hide my wings, change my clothes, and clean of the blood on my arms and face. I need to look presentable if I’m to see my family. I go to the creek and wash my hair just in case blood has gotten into it.
I walk to the house my parents live in and knock. My dad answers. I smile at him, and he wraps me in a bear hug.
“Well look who it is, my precious daughter.” He says.
“Hey Dad, I’ve missed you and Mom. Where is she?”
“Well, you see honey, she’s with the elders and the alpha, beings as she is the Luna’s beta.”
“Oh. Why?” I already know the answer.
“Someone has killed Michael, the old elder.”
“Good riddance. I never liked him. He betrayed the alpha and in turn this pack.”
“Allissa Silverwind, that is uncalled for.” He sighs. “They found a feather at the scene, and you are the top suspect.”
“Am I? What are they going to do about it? It was a job I got paid for in advance.” I’m not afraid of the consequences. “I’m an assassin Dad. No one was taking me seriously, so I continued training to become an assassin. I just made a rookie mistake.”
“You mean to tell me it was you who killed him?” Elder Ann asks.
I clear my throat. “I didn’t realize the whole elder body would be at my parents’ house. To answer your question, yes, I killed him. He deserved it. I got paid to do it. It was my first job as an assassin. Someone paid for it to happen.”
“So, you wouldn’t have done it without being paid?” Mom asks.
I sigh, “Listen I’m not the sweet obedient angel you all knew. I’m a trained assassin. I get paid to kill. No one thought to take me seriously before so I will make you.”
“That won’t be necessary. You made more than one mistake, and now we have to clean up your mess.” I recognize the voice but not the one it belongs to. “I’m sorry to have to do this princess… but it has to be done.”
“Andrew?” I say surprised.
He smiles but it's replaced with sadness as he and his band of other demons start attacking my family and elders. I stand there shocked as I see them fall lifeless one after the other. The horror is all it takes for me to be filled with hatred and desperation to avenge my family. I fall to the ground as I begin to die and be reborn in a new transformation. My wings come out as they change from pink to red to black. My hair changes from silver to black with silver highlights and my eyes change from sky blue to neon green glowing.244Please respect copyright.PENANAN5Ida4mXM7
