The Staff of Rebirth
As I hold it, I feel the power luminating. It surges through me. I hold it up in the air and think hard and clear of my pack, and also Kyle’s parents. He lost them at a young age, so I figure it will be a nice parting gift for us. The diamond glows brightly as the power pulls from my hand and body. It glows even brighter as I cast start casting. I feel my power leave me and I fall to the ground the staff still throwing rainbows of power to the lost souls. I feel their lives fill again, and the diamond dulls to its normal clear color.
Panting from the loss of magic, I feel relieved that they have been returned to life. I use the staff to help me stand up and steady me. I look towards Lucifer, a newfound lust in my eyes. To think I had all this power.
“You felt it, didn’t you?” he asks.
“I felt their lives filling again. It was amazing. I’d like to go visit my family soon. I know that you said they wouldn’t recognize me or know me, but can I at least travel to see them? I promise it will be worth your while.”
“You need to gather your strength back up before we go on a road trip.”
“Am I able to bring back demons? I’ve killed so many.”
“Unfortunately, it only works on mortals. Demons are classified as immortal like us, even though they can be killed. You and I are truly immortal.”
“I’m sorry. I wish I could bring them back too.”
He closes the distance between us, wrapping his arms around me, “Well, I can always make more. It just takes a lot out of me when I do.”
“Just like bringing the dead back for me. I’m completely worn out. I can barely stand.” I lean into his embrace.
We stand that way for a few minutes. He leads me to bed, helping me sit, and smiles kindly at me. Then sits next to me and removes the staff from my hands, setting it on the bed behind me. Slowly, he runs his fingers up my arm sending shivers throughout my body.
“I’m so glad you are mine. I was jealous when I saw how you felt about that werewolf. I did enjoy our little scuffle though.”
“You would enjoy something like that.” I giggle.
“That’s the first time since you’ve been here that I’ve heard you laugh.”
“I’ve been holding a grudge against my mate, because of something in the past. Well, this staff helped me remedy that.”
“I’m glad it worked for you.” he leans closer and kisses me. I allow him to deepen it. We have our blissful moment.
Never have I ever felt like I did with him. It was electrifying. The touch was of pure blissfulness. He lays beside me moving the staff to make room for himself.

After a nice nap, I wake up with an empty spot next to me. A pout escapes my lips. Then I hear the shower running in the ensuite bathroom. I smile reaching for the staff. I’m in awe as it flashes white in my hands, before settling back to clear. I turn it where the diamond is down and notice a rose quartz crystal on the bottom that I didn’t see previously. Its pink hue shines in the light.
“Didn’t you see that small detail earlier?” Lucifer says coming out of the bathroom.
I jump, “No. I guess I was too excited to try it out.”
“Well, you best get well rested for we leave in the morning. We’ll see your family.”
“We?”
“I figured I’d accompany you. We are meant to be together forever, right? I might as well get to know where you came from, even if they don’t remember you.”
“Is there a faster way than walking or flying ourselves? We can’t draw attention.”
“We will have to walk, unfortunately. At least until we can get to the town with the route to the Silverpine territory.”
I squeal, “I’m so excited. I miss them very much.”
“Well than, Little Raven, we must get packed. We have a long route ahead of us.”
I squeal again and hug Lucifer. I may be 21 but I’m still a schoolgirl at heart. He grabs me a suitcase and I begin filling it with clothing from the closet. He smiles and shakes his head before leaving my room to go to his. After several hours of switching outfits to bring, I am finally prepared. I make sure to pack my weaponry as well, not that I will need it, but who knows I might have to kill Elder Michael again. I hope not.
