The Fallen
Once my transformation into a fallen angel is complete, the rage that’s built up within me is released and I kill every demon that was present, saving Andrew for last.
“What are you doing?” Andrew asks.
“Whose orders, were they?” I demanded, holding a sword to his throat, standing over his body.
“You know we can’t disclose that information. Are you going to kill me?”
A smile creeps on my lips as I press the sword against his skin, causing blood to trickle down. I lean in close, “What do you think. Tell me who ordered this massacre, and your death will be painless.”
The sadness is evident on his face. He pulls me in and kisses me as my sword pierces his neck, “I love you.” his last words surprised me, but I can’t do anything about it now, he’s dead. Andrew was my boyfriend, but my rage wouldn’t allow him to live. He wasn’t my mate anyway, and we both knew it. Though I didn’t realize he was a demon.
I go to the packhouse library to search for books about demons. I move around the carnage of bodies. No one is left alive except for me. The anger rages within me even worse than before. They killed everyone. At first, my research doesn’t progress, then I realize they have a restricted area. I walk over to the corpse of the librarian and yank the key from her neck to unlock the archives. Here my progress is guaranteed. I find many books about prophecy and demons. There are also books about different shifters, sirens, dragons and much more. I start flipping through the pages of a book about demon ranks. It says there are three main categories: high, middle, and low. Then there is the king of demons who is said to be the fallen angel named Lucifer, also known as the devil, himself. The original fallen angel. I look further into the rankings and find that middle and high-ranking demons can appear human. That explains why I didn’t know Andrew was a demon. Further yet it says that they are hard to kill because they can be reborn. Lovely. Oh, but if you pierce their hearts with a sword or dagger, they cannot be reborn or if they are decapitated completely. I think I did that. If not, I will in the future. I vow to take my revenge upon them for killing my family and pack.
“Ah, Princess, I thought I’d find you here.” Andrews voice surprises me.
“So have you decided to tell me who’s orders you were following?” I respond.
“If I did that, he’d have my head on a silver platter.”
I turn facing the demon, “If you don’t tell me I will cut it off and present it to the demon king myself. As well as every leader of the demon guilds heads.”
“If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you were a demon yourself. You would make a fine queen to Lucifer.”
“Lucifer… I need to find him and have a chat about my pack.”
“He will find you before you ever find him. In fact, he already knows who and where you are.”
“Good. I hope he does find me, because I will be killing every demon, I come in contact with starting with you.” I took the dagger from my hip and thrust it into his heart. “Now stay dead.” I cut off his head and put it into a bag I found in the archives. This should hold many heads.
I got another bag and put a few books in it so I can do more research. I found one that is specifically about the prophecy and pack it as well as four books about demons. I didn’t care about the other races, just demons. I left the archives bags in tow. Time to start my journey.
The first stop is my assassin guild. I read that every assassin guild is made of demons, so I will take out my guild first, keeping the head of the leader for Lucifer. It takes me three days to get there. The first one I see is the leader.
“Allisa my dear, so good to see you again. You’ve changed into a fallen angel I see. You must have had some success in your first task.” Raphael says. He’s tall, tan skinned, and raven black hair.
“Hello Raphael… just the one I came to see.” I say.
“How nice, did you come for another request?”
“No, just my own selfish desires.”
“Oh?” he smiles seductively. “I could probably help with that.”
Gross. “I’m sure you can.”
“What about Andrew, aren’t you two dating?”
“He won’t bother us.”
“Oh, did you two have a fight? That’s unlike you.”
“You could say that.” I reach into the bag and pull-out Andrews head, “He’s dead.” I returned it to the bag.
A look of fear is evident on Raphaels face, but he composes himself. “Shall we retire to my chambers then, my dear?”
“We can do it right here. No one is coming, they are all dead, and you’re next.” I swiftly ran to him dagger protruding from my hand and pierced his heart followed by a decapitation. I add his head to Andrews.
“What did you do!” a female yells.
“I killed him, what does it look like, Vanessa.” She also has black hair about the same build as me and pasty white skin with green eyes.
“How could you! He taught you everything you know about being an assassin.” She begins to cry.
“It’s called revenge, and I can’t let you live either.” I run, piercing her flesh where the heart is. I watch as she takes her last breath before removing the silver dagger.
“You are turning into quite the assassin, Allissa.” I look around for the voice and see no one.
“Who are you, where are you?” I ask.
“I’m the one who ordered the massacre on your family. You won’t find me. I’m in a different location.”
“Why did you order my pack dead?”
“They were a small step in the big plan. You are an angel, or should I say a fallen angel. You don’t belong with wolves. They aren’t your pack. Just your creators. Or what used to be you. I’m the one who made you into a fallen. I needed them dead to unleash your true potential as an assassin.”
“So, I’m just a tool for your pleasures in death?”
“That’s just the icing on the cake. You are much more than a tool.”
“What’s your name?”
“You already know the answer to that question. I will see you in the future.”
“Lucifer!” I screamed as the voice faded out.
Anger rages within my soul. The conversation still fresh in my mind, I vow to continue my search for Lucifer, killing every demon I can. I feel a burning sensation in my hands. Looking down, I notice a ball of fire has formed. I smile and throw it at the assignment board, which immediately catches fire. I leave the burning building in my wake. I seek shelter in a nearby cave where I start a fire to see as I take out a book. I read up on locations of guilds. I find a map with them on it and cross off my guild looking for my next target. It’s about a two-week walk, but I am bound and determined to get there. This is my next target. I pack away the book and map and fall asleep with the fire still going.
----
When I have awoken, I put the coals out and pick up my bags. I leave the cave heading north-east to my next destination. I could always fly but I don’t want to attract human attention. When I come to a town I shift into a human look. My eyes turn green, not glowing, and my body shrinks to about 5’7” versus my normal 6’10”. I walk around to get through the town. I reach in my pocket to get some money. I can buy a bus ticket. I buy the ticket and load the bus when it comes. It will take me to the closest town to where I’m going, it’s just going to take a few days to get there. When I’m offered food I deny, and then take out my snacks I had gotten from the guild before I left the first time.
“You will become like a twig if you don’t eat real food.” A gentlemen says.
“Thanks for your concern but I’m okay with my nuts and cheese. I don’t want to get fat.” I respond.
Weight is something humans are concerned with, but as an angel, its not my concern since I don’t need to eat as often as humans do. He sits next to me and offers me his hand.
“Kyle.”
“Alli.”
We shake hands. “Where you heading to?”
A little weary I say, “North-East as far as I can go.”
“You heading to the assassin guild? I know where it is, I’ve been there a time or two. I have paid for their services.”
“You should be careful who you say that to.”
“I also know you are not human. You are too pretty.”
“Humans are pretty too. I assure you I’m not what you think.”
“Oh, I know exactly what you are.”
Feeling uncomfortable, I shift my weight. “How could someone like you know what I am?”
“I’ve been to the Silverpine Pack. You are well known there.”
“I’m sorry but they are all dead. Killed by demons.”
“Except for you, the child of destiny. An Angel born of wolves.” He whispers in my ear.
I look at him, “How do you know that?”
“I’ve done my research. We ‘humans’ are taught about werewolves, and their prophecy.”
“You aren’t human, are you?” I ask suspiciously.
“No. I am however the alpha who paid to have Michael slaughtered, which you handled perfectly.”
“Well then, you hide yourself well.”
“I told my beta, that I was going to assist the angel of destiny.”
“So, you know all about me, huh.”
“I wouldn’t say that, but I am here to help you.”
“I’m on a very specific mission.”
“You want revenge on the demons for killing your pack. I know. News of the guild by your packhouse being slaughtered and burned, has traveled fast among the grape vine of wolves.”
“Great… now the demons will be expecting me.” I sigh.
“I can help you, I really can.”
“Wont your pack miss you? It’s going to be a long time before you return if you help me.”
“I left it in good paws.” He smiles.
“So, what makes you think you can partner with a complete stranger for a long journey?”
“Because I’m an Alpha. I know you are no longer an angel but a fallen. Not quite demon though.”
“You really do know a lot about me, but I know nothing about you, other than the fact that you are an Alpha. I don’t even know what pack you are from.”
“I’m the king of wolves, Alpha Kyle of the Silvermoon Pack.”
“I see.” He’s tall, about 6’7”, has tan skin, dark brown hair, and golden-brown eyes, though they don’t glow like mine or the elders. “How’d you know it was me?”
“I could smell the demon blood in that bag of yours.”
I look at my bag and back at him. “Wolves can smell demon blood?”
“And angel blood, other wolves blood, dragon blood, you name it.”
“Must be nice to smell what someone is.”
“It has its benefits and problems.”
“What do you mean by problems.”
“It takes away getting to know someone for who they are rather than knowing right away if they are human, wolf, or other.”
“It doesn’t sound that bad to me. It would have saved me a lot of problems.”
A gentlemen clears his throat, “Do you mind. You are awfully close to her. We have a strict no affection policy. Where are you to heading anyway.” The bus driver says.
“Sir we were having a private conversation, no affection. Just whispers of getting to know each other.” Kyle says.
“Do it at a safe distance, people are complaining.” The bus driver complains.
Kyle moves a few inches away from me and immediately I miss his closeness. I’ve never had a friend really. A boyfriend sure, but he was a demon and I killed him. A wolf on the other hand, might be a better match, at least until I find my mate.
“Humans are so lucky.” I say under my breath.
“What makes you say that?” Kyle inquires. The bus driver leaves us satisfied we aren’t so close. We start driving again.
“Well, they can choose who they are with. Shifters have to rely on fate and hope they are accepted.”
He takes my hand in his under the table we are at, offering comfort. He squeezes and smiles sweetly at me. I sigh.
“Even if we aren’t mates, that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy each other’s company. No strings attached. I hear angels are amazing in bed.”
“You just want to help for… sex?”
“Not what I meant it to sound like. I’m just saying we both have needs and if we are going to spend time together, we may have to help one another in that department. Besides, I already know who my mate is, she’s just not old enough to realize I’m hers. That’s one of the things about being a shifter. You aren’t quite old enough either. You have to be 21.”
“I guess so. Is it me?”
“No, I’m not your mate, but chances are your mate probably already knows you are theirs.”
He seems saddened by the fact that I’m not his mate. I’m kind of saddened to. He would have been a fine mate. I hope his queen is a good one. He needs to be happy. I could make that wish come true for him if only I knew her name. It’s one of the gifts an angel has is to grant wishes, except our own. I ponder the thought as the bus makes a few more stops. The driver pulls over and turns all lights out. The day is over.
