Being adopted into a wealthy white military family would be anyone's dream, the money, and privilege behind it. However, Sirrah Winters does not see it that way with the constant whispers, stares, and jokes; Sirrah begins to feel as though it was a huge mistake that the Winters' family had adopted her when she was only five years old. Since then, Sirrah has always known that she is different than they are with her charcoal skin tone. Feeling her insecurities arising inside of her, Sirrah now begins to become sheltered and introverted.
