New apartment block new me I guess.
Maddie looked over at me, concerned. I gave her my best I’m ok smile. I’m only eleven but why the flipping heck dose my brain have to be wired like a fourteen year old? I was boosted a few grades last year but this year…… I’m not even in the same side of the world! For all I know this building might topple down on top of us and the residents will say it’s normal in these parts.
I hate it. There’s no Gum trees, no kookaburras not even any possums! These squirrel things are creepy. Like they stare at you while sitting in plain sight! A possum at least has the decency to hide.
Max looked at Maddie and nodded.
”Kay, dear, you’re going to be living here with your new family.” Maddie said gently, as if I was a piece of glass one crack away for shattering.
”it’s not that we don’t want you, we just think this will be a better match.” Max assured me.
I knew they where lying. I was always to much. No one had known me for over six months and decided that they wanted me forever.
I wasn’t a ‘special case’ I was weird. Plain old weird.
Max lead me up the stairs while Maddie walked behind me, every so often offering to help me with my suitcase. I was being paraded around like a prisoner.
we finally got to the story we where supposed to be on. Max knocked while I stood at his side staring to my blue suitcase with a design of stitch on it. My eyes traced the colourful flowers and the blue little animal. This was the last thing I had from my childhood. I loved the suitcase. Not at all because it’s past, because I love the movie ‘Lilo and stitch’
where you expecting something heart-warming? That’s not how this works.
