Chapter Six
As Margaret sits in Charm's car's passenger seat, she can feel her heart racing. She takes a deep breath and tells Carmen everything that has happened. It all comes crashing out of her from the day she learned what her father had done, to this morning, to the dinner with her mother.
"It feels like such a relief to finally be able to tell someone," she says.
Charm listens, never interrupting or criticizing. She offers her hand to Margaret.
"It's okay," Charm says softly. "You're not alone."
Margaret rests her head on Charm's shoulder for a moment, grateful for her newfound friend's support. They sit in silence for a few moments. It feels like a weight has been lifted off of her chest.
"Thank you," Margaret says, "I've never connected with someone so quickly."
Charm nods solemnly. "It's my pleasure."
Charm walks Margaret to her door, Margaret thanks her again before she leaves. As she closes the door behind Charm, she can't help but feel a sense of relief. She knows that she is safe now and has someone who will help her get through whatever comes next and making friends is easier.196Please respect copyright.PENANAQRfQhfDtlo
