Chapter Seven
Margaret enters her sixth hour exhausted. The glow of the projector's light bathes the classroom in pale blue and white. She feels the eyes of her classmates on her as she surveys the board for her name. Where she finds it written in fancy handwriting, next to the name “Samson Locke.” Margaret twists in the direction of the tables and chairs all split into groups of two. The room vibrates with chatter. The boy with dark chocolate brown hair is no longer wearing the green cardigan; rather, he a black jacket and a gray shirt, and is seated next to her spot.
Margaret stopped on the edge of her desk to put her bag down. The boy turned to her and extended his hand. “Hello,” he said. "I don't think I've introduced myself to you yet. My name is Samson. We're in English together and this class obviously."
Margaret took his hand it was warm and soft she looked into his eyes. "Yeah, I know," she said. "I read your name on the board. Guess we're partners."
"Well," he said with a grin, "I figured you had read the board. I just thought it might be polite to properly introduce myself."

Margaret felt her face turn red. "Oh um I, uh, guess so," she said. "Well um, my name is Margaret."

"It's nice to meet you, Margaret," he said with a smile. "Looks like we have a lot of work to do."
Margaret looks across the room as the door opens and Ms. Barrat enters. She can see the annoyance on her face as she scans the room. The art teacher walks up to the board and begins to write.
“Good afternoon students” she starts, “Today you have all been assigned seats and partners Im going to explain the project then you will have the rest of the hour to plan.”
Samson glances at Margaret her hair is in a high ponytail on the top of her head and she has shiny stars hanging from her ears. Margaret is focused on every word their teacher says.
“The project is due on the first of next month, You have 22 days to get it done. Your canvas must be on my desk completed by the start of the hour on October first.” Ms. Barrat looks around the room before continuing to explain. “ You are all probably wondering what the project is well your assignment is You must develop a painting that depicts your partner pursuing a hobby or activity that they value. Your painting should capture the essence of their passions and interests, reflecting their personality in the process. Completing this assignment successfully will help build stronger professional relationships and foster mutual understanding between you and your partner. Through your painting, you can describe your partner's hobbies and interests, offering a unique perspective on their character and passions. This assignment is also a great opportunity to express yourself creatively and develop your artistic skills.
