After dinner, Kanita locked herself in the room.
Windows were closed, curtains were dropped from the pole and the fan was opened.
“Huh…” Kanta yawned.
It was time to go to bed now. She shut down laptop and organized it on the makeup table, then she ran her body down to the mattress and switched off the light, but she kept a small lamp.
Though her eyes were closed, her brain was still awake. As well, her ears seemed to hear footsteps on the stairs. They were coming up to the first floor then walking on the path towards her room.
In the evening, before leaving, Aunt Dari brought the dinner to the room and she told Kanita to put the trolley outside the room after eating; she would take it when she came in the morning.
Because Kanita followed Aunt Dari’s telling by keeping the food trolley near the door, that made her realize the creepy creature arrived at her door because she heard the wheels of the trolley move.
‘Don’t care.’ She reminded herself.
The trolley’s sound disappeared, and a few seconds later, the door was heard to be opened and footsteps walking on the floor were heard clearly - towards the bed.
Through all these acts, Kanita thought it was the ghost lady. It was correct, the creepy figure who was inside the room was the ghost lady in red gown. While she was walking towards the girl’s bed, she was smiling; as she saw Kanita’s eyes were close, she smiled largely and scarily because she knew that Kanita was not sleeping yet.
What did she want to do tonight?
It was what Kanita wanted to know as well.
When arriving at the bed, the ghost lady didn’t sit on it, instead she leaned her body down to be like a cat then used her sharp and red nails to crack the floor. Kanita heard it and she knew that it was from the ghost who wanted to bother her. She tried to remind herself to ignore it and she tried to push herself to fall asleep fast. However the sound was not only annoying but also made the veins in her brain shake like they were dancing hip-hop since the ghost lady didn’t do it only once. Nonetheless, she still didn’t open her eyes. For about ten seconds, the disturbed sound disappeared. Kanita seemed to feel relaxed; but she didn’t think that scary woman would stop at this point; she should have more tactics. She was not wrong; a moment later, she felt something was over her. The belly started to have a hit, still she tried to calm down and acted like she was in a sleep. One hundred percent that the ghost lady knew Kanita was awake, but she wanted to play with her, so she hung herself in the air over her with her eyes looking at her without blinking. She was waiting for Kanita to be impatient and open her eyes, then she would scare her for fun. But it looked like Kanita didn’t fall for her trick, so the ghost lady was not feeling good, she didn’t want to lose, she then dropped her body lower till her dress could meet the blanket that was covering Kanita.
Nonetheless Kanita didn’t open her eyes. It made her frustrated stronger. Her face became tense and her eyes became narrow.
Phew…
Through the nostrils, Kanita sensed a smoke which was mixed between the smell of dead rats and rotten dead fishes into her lungs. It was very disgusting, and it was hard to bear it.
This was a very clever trick of the ghost. Kanita knew it. In fact, she was scared, too, since she knew that the ghost was right over her, but she was trying to be brave as she remembered what Aunt Dari told her. She realized the ghost was waiting for her to open eyes in order to scare her and she also knew the ghost would not go away unless she got what she wanted.
‘She wants me to open my eyes, I should give her.’
After thinking, Kanita decided to move her upper eyelids slowly to give a sign to the ghost lady that she was opening her eyes now. It was what the ghost was waiting for, she grinned largely and prepared to win the game over the human.47Please respect copyright.PENANACBeV8UEgNs
“Hah…” she opened her mouth and screamed as she saw the eyes of Kanita unlock.
“Um,” Kanita said in her throat at a very low and normal pitch, like she didn’t see or hear anything.
Perceiving the fearless action, the ghost lady narrowed her eyebrows and immediately, she faded from the eyes of Kanita.
“What’s the smell,” Kanita said and used her fingers to close her nostrils. Then she removed the blanket from body and walked to open the windows.
Apparently, it was her act because she thought the ghost lady was still in her room and she was spying on her if she really didn’t see her or just pretended.
Since the ghost lady saw her open the windows, she knew immediately that her game was not successful, so tonight she decided to let go of the prey.
Kanita could sense if the ghost left or didn’t, and now she felt there was no one inside her room besides her. However she didn’t close the windows yet - because there was a really bad smell in the room, she needed to clean it or she could not sleep even though the ghost didn’t haunt her. Not only one window, she opened all three of them, until the air was clean, she could pull their sheets together and go to have a peaceful rest in her bed.
