The Siol were wanting to add more variety to their world. They were working on a new creature, and had come up with a special texture, where the creature would have thousands of little hairs, creating a very soft appearance and feeling. It was a very pleasing creation. They made it omnivorous; it could eat anims but also live from plants, and gave it this black texture all over; then they placed it in the world. It wasn't long before the human discovered it. He was clearly surprised to see it; after all they hadn't added anything new to this world during his whole lifespan. The humas named it "almer".
The Siol wanted to do more with their new creation, and then came up with the idea of making more of the same species, but with different colours. Then they asked the question; should almers of different colours be able to reproduce with eachother? They decided yes. But which colour should the offspring be? If they just decided on one or the other then the other colour might go extinct. So it should be mixed. But how..? This is when they come up with a new concept; Chance. The offspring would have a random chance of becoming either brown, or black. Or, they decided to add a little more randomness, and allow a third option, to see what would happen. They watched the new species procreate, and eventually a brown and a black one would do so, and they saw that some of the young ones became spotted with brown and black colours. It was very interesting to see the world naturally create variety, so they added a white almer as well, and would now see very many different variations of them.
They looked to the humans. Perhaps... they could apply the same principles. They wanted to use their new texture for more, too... they decided to create two more humans, and these ones had black fur texture. They placed them on the world. The two new humans had similar reactions to the first one; they were confused and curious, further more they saw eachother, and were cautious about trusting the other. But they soon realised they were in the same situation, and decided to explore their surroundings together. They soon discovered anims, some of which attacked them, and they had to run away. They unfortunately didn't find any methods to fight them, so they had to keep running and hiding. They had the advantage, however, that their dark and muted colours made them less visible. They stuck together and were highly attached. The new humans didn't figure out how to kill the anims, so they developed a more flighty nature.
They had made another change along the way. Time was very constant and disconnected, and for a long time, the Siol had been discussing a way to track time. They had come up with the choice to have the world alternate with light and darkness, with consistent intervals, so the light times could be counted. This could segment time. But it was difficult to go outside and do things in the darkness. So they decided that new species that were created from now on, would have to rest during the darkness, and would wake up when the light was back, this way they wouldn't have to wait it out.
The new humans went to sleep when it was dark, but the old ones became afraid, and sat in darkness the whole time. The Siol considered if they should change them, but they preferred not to interfere with any species that they had already created. They came up with a different solution, and created a new plant, which would grow glass-like "fruits" that glowed and gave off lights. The next evening, the oldest human found the plant, and brought the lights with him home, and they lit up the home with them. It seemed to help them get through the night more.
They had also now met the new humans and had befriended them. The Siol were relieved that neither had been hostile to the other. Their changes had integrated well so far.
