Anger. He felt anger. And hatred. He wanted - no, he NEEDED - revenge. He wanted to destroy. Destroy everything. He wanted to burn it all to the ground. The world would burn for what it had done to him.
Suddenly, something flowed through him, akin to a river winding its way through a battlefield. Memories filled him. A beautiful woman... a glorious night... a knife... so much blood... pain... then nothing...
He screamed aloud, then stood up from where he had fallen to his knees. Today... today she would pay. She would pay for all of her sins.
He turned and headed for the nearest inn.
As he entered the inn, he heard a string snap, and a net closed around him. He was slammed to the ground by its weight, watching helplessly as three men and the woman surrounded him.
"Well, well, well. What do we have here? My one-night lover, here for a second time? Odd, I swore I killed you." She shrugs. "I just suppose I'll have to do a better job this time." She reached for the knife and sent it plunging into his chest, but it went right through him. She stabbed again, but nothing happened. No matter how many times she tried, the blade would not go through.
Finally, she pulled back, screaming in rage. "Fine! I'll find some other way!"
She staggered over to a counter and pulled up a gun, turning just in time to see her ex-lover had freed himself of his net and was killing her men. She watched in fright as he shoved his hand through one of their chests, killing the man instantly. She watched as the last man fell limp to the ground, and turned to run as her ex came at her, murderous rage filling his eyes. She keeps running, desperately trying to stay away from him, trying to escape. But no matter how hard she tries, she can't outrun him.
Finally, he corners her in a room. "Nowhere left to hide," He sneers.
She raises the gun to his forehead, her hands shaking. "Die, fucker." She fires the gun, watching in despair as the bullet flies straight through him. She keeps firing, but none of the bullets hurt him. He just keeps advancing. Soon he has her trapped against a wall.
The man pushes his hand into her chest, and she screams in pain as it feels like her chest is being ripped in two.
He watches dispassionately as blood flows from the wound, coating his arm. He leans in and whispers in her ear, "Go to hell."
She leans in as well, and, through desperate breaths, mutters, "I'll see you there," as she slams her hand on a button next to them, firing three blasts of pure plasma at her ex, who disintegrates into a pile of ash. She stumbles through the inn, desperately hoping for help despite knowing none will come. Eventually, she stumbles into the office, and looks up at the tree, which depicts the people of her family. She traced her finger down to her name, covering the tree in blood. Then she moves to the name next to hers. Her brother. A man she had adored more than anyone else in her family. The man she had just killed.
