The house creaked and groaned, all of the appliances chirping and thumping in harmony. The water from the faucet dripped d r i p p e d, d r i p p e d. I slowly walked into the kitchen, jumping at every noise I heard. I went to the sink and turned off the water, and I turned around and saw that a cabinet was open. It hadn't been open before… had it? I crept over to the cabinet and closed it gently, sighing a breath of relief as the appliances and walls stopped their horrifying song. I relaxed a little and began to head to my room when I heard the faucet. It wasn't just dripping anymore. I turned around and the water was running, full blast. I walked over and turned it off, every muscle in my body tense. I backed away a step, and the water came on again. Someone had moved the handle, but who? I turned the water off again, and went back to my room quickly. The water began to drip once more, but I hid, silent and still, under the blanket.
