Two minutes later, Maggie had stopped the car, stepped out of it, covered in blood. Kira followed her and grinned sheepishly at Maggie, who glanced at her with murder in her eyes.
"Sorry?" Kira offered.
Maggie turned to face her, opened her mouth to say something, but then she smiled. She chuckled, then giggled, then burst out laughing fully. Kira grinned at her and chuckled lightly. After a while, Maggie's laughter quieted down, and she cupped Kira's face with her hands and kissed her soundly on the lips.
Kira looked at her astonished and blinked a few times, then slowly a very wide smile crept onto her lips. "I did good?" She asked.
Maggie laughed at her and threw her arms around her neck, then kissed her again. "You did good, my little Guardian," she said.
Suddenly, the ground cracked open, and three large brutish forms emerged from the ground. Their faces were grotesque, their skin like embers, their horns reaching ten feet above the ground easily. Each of them was bigger than the car.
"Kirannad", they said in unison. Their voice was like worms crawling under your skin, like needles driven under your nails, or white-hot coals poured over your eyes. "Your last time was your last warning," they continued. "You have overstepped your station one too many times."
"Hold up!" Maggie yelled. "She did exactly what she was supposed to do! She saved me like in the contract! This is exactly what she is here for!" Maggie said angrily to them, without realizing she just nay said three archdemons.
The three beings looked at each other, then at Kira.
"True," they agreed. "But it doesn't matter," they continued. "She was warned, and she overstepped her status. There's only one way she can stay."
"What's that?" Maggie and Kira asked in unison.
The figures grinned evilly and let out a horribly menacing short snort. "Mortal Bond," they said and looked at Kira, who raised an eyebrow and shrugged.
"What's that?" Maggie asked.
"She will be bound to one mortal, never to step her foot in Hell again. She will be made mortal and will die a final death at the same instant her bound mortal dies. It's the cruelest form of punishment we have. Demons rather die right out and accept that. But, we will be merciful and offer her a choice," they said and laughed terribly.
Maggie turned to look at Kira, who scratched her neck. She raised an eyebrow at her, Maggie shrugged.
"Alright. So," Kira said. "You'll bind me to Maggie, for all time, until the day she dies. I have to be with her on Earth and can never step into Hell again. And you'll never bother me again, I'm free of my obligations and can spend the rest of my now-mortal life with her in any way I wish?"
The figures looked at each other, then at Kira. "Yes," they said.
"That's a fucking lousy punishment," Kira giggled. "I mean, it sounds more like a reward to me, but okay. I'll take it! I'll definitely take it. Now bind us and be on your way," she said and took Maggie's hand into hers, and then looked up into Maggie's eyes, biting her lip. "Unless, of course, you have something against it."
Maggie looked right into the bright yellow eyes and cupped Kira's face anew. She smiled at her and kissed her. "I don't," she said. "I'm already bound to you stronger than Hell could ever hope to."
The figures looked at each other in confusion. They shrugged and grabbed both of the girls into their huge hands. They pricked both of their wrists open and smashed them together.
"In Mortal Blood you are bound, Kirannad. In Mortal Blood, you will die. This mortal is now your lifeline, and should anything happen to her, you will perish. Thus you are exiled from Hell and are bound to never again set foot on the surface. Go now, Mortal Kirannad, and die," they said. The flames erupted from the ground and the figures slid back into it, leaving the two.
