“Students, may I get your attention?” Says the headmistress. She stands on a platform, looking over the kids at my level. After two days, my mom stopped pestering me. Landon still thought I shouldn’t come to school, and wasn’t afraid to tell me. Infront of everyone. He had said something along the lines of “You are hurt… you should be home resting… blah blah blah.”
Finally, it was lunch and I already wanted to go back home. Next to Logan, one of my best friends, and on her other side is Allessa, my other best friend. On the other side of me is Addie. Though neither Logan nor Allessa liked her that much, she was in my class and would at least talk to me, when the other girls would make fun of my dark hair and freckles. At surrounding tables are the other girls at our level. I hated most of them, but I only had to deal with them for a few more days.
“As of today, you have one week till the Test. Students, you have one week off, to prepare for the Test. Good luck.” and then the horror of a Headmistress was gone, and I realized I may never see her again.
Cheers echo off the dull walls. As much as I used to hate it here, I was going to miss it, from the plain yet grimy walls to the questionable food.
“Who wants to come to mine tonight?” Allessa asks, watching me curiously. I could never say no to her, and she knows it.
“Me” Logan shouts, then jumps on the table, knocking over her food tray in the process, and starts dancing. I’m going to miss her so much, with her little ADD outbursts and stunning brown hair with the purple tips dyed. I’m going to miss Allessa’s random rants about how I should find a job, or I’m going to starve and how she was in love with Luces.
“Me too.”Addie agrees following Logon onto the table, and together their melodic voices fill the room. They start doing a fast-paced partner dance, and tons follow pursuit. Quickly all the benches and tables are full of people dancing.
I'm watching from the corner when Allessa starts toward Logan but stops and heads toward me. Her eyes ask the question.
