After that day, the weird person always visited the lonely boy. They never spoke but simply sat next to each other quietly, comfortably. Sometimes they'd offer each other food items or would accompany each other to their wards but the boy's leg was yet to heal completely so it was always the girl who'd accompany him most of the time. Her wounds and cuts were healed she's staying for the sake of mental consultation, she hasn't been showing signs of improvements lately so the doctors wanted to keep her under their watch a bit more and the girl had no complaints about it. She seemed quite happy with her silent friend and hoped her friend too felt the same.
Luck wasn't on Daniel's side this time as he failed to identify the guy with whom Emilia was in the library. Neither his cronies could help him as in this entire school, several of them match such description ranging from juniors to seniors. But soon he was presented with an opportunity which he decided to put on good use.
Lativia RonCorr is back in town from her extended vacation in Italy and they are famous for throwing massive awesome parties. So, an invitation was sent to the entire school via common group chats making the jocks and party goers cheer for a wonderful weekend. The nerds could only sigh as to how their fellow classmates are throwing both their health and precious time under the bus by getting wasted when that time could used for studying for a better future! The nerds included Rio as well, who never ever went to any parties even if he was invited through the common group chats.
"Woah RonCorr is back! Cool! Hey Rio you coming?" An excited Luke bounded up to his friend.
"No. I work in weekends."
"Aww fine then." Luke pouted. As Rio's bestie he could've pressured the boy to accompany him to the party because RonCorr's party is totally something worth going but due to Rio's certain circumstances, he couldn't use his 'bestie' rights on sanders.
The final bell rang dismissing the students for the week. Clamors and loud voices encapsulated the hallways of each building as students made plans for the weekend, scheduled times with their study buddies or fixed a romantic dates, or decided to visit stores to check out new dresses for RonCorr's party on Saturday.
Rio bid goodbye to Luke who was visibly excited and hurried off to the direction of his house. Rio proceeded towards his workplace as his shift starts soon.
That night Rio woke up with a cry, sweating buckets. His pillow was thrown away on the floor, his blanket was muddled up into a ball and his pajamas are soaked in sweat. He also had an uncanny feeling of being watched by someone secretly. He didn't feel safe to stay in his bedroom anymore. He went inside the bathroom and locked the door from inside and remained there till the first rays of the sun hit his house.
A very haggard Rio strolled in his workplace at his shift time and started with his duty. While cleaning up the tables of the restaurant he saw Emilia Johannes with another girl whose name he didn't know but she goes to the same school as him. They were laughing at something hilarious.
Oh how he wished to have a normal life like them...attend parties, laugh with friends mingle with others.
But those are just wishful thinking.
Maybe...maybe in the next birth...
He resumed his wiping of the table to shake off such useless thoughts and moved on to do his next duty.
"But seriously girl, you need to break up with that Danny guy. He's too much of a red flag."
"I know and RonCorr's party is the perfect place to do that. There'll be people of Roschend High so it'll be easier to keep all of them as witnesses to my declaration."
"Yeah, can't take any risks especially when your soon-to-be-ex is pretty good as portraying himself as the victim ugh!"
Seon Hul was right. It is necessary for Emilia to break up with Daniel after the stunt he almost pulled on her that made Emilia unable to trust him anymore. Declaring the break up would ensure witnesses and would also prevent him from doing anything drastic to her. Even if he does resort to violence after the party, Emilia is confident that she'll be able to take him down. Surely, their height difference may pose disadvantage to her but in all this 1 year relationship, Emilia has understood that Danny is anything but smart and that includes in occasional brawls as well.
However Emilia didn't expect her tutor to be working at the pizza joint where she and Seon Hul decided for lunch after completing their shopping. She couldn't get a glance of his face properly as it was covered with a cap that was a part of the uniform of staffs of that pizza joint but after hearing his voice of; "I-Is that all?" Emilia finally took a good look at him, then at his name tag; "Rio Sanders, is that you?"
The said man glanced at her from underneath the cap and nodded; "Mn. That'll be $19.75."
As the two girls settled down at their table, Emilia kept on glancing at the order counter where her tutor patiently took orders from a fussy lady who was next in line of them. Even after receiving their orders, Seon Hul noticed her bestie getting distracted by the guy at the counter.
"What is it? You want his number or something?"
"Ah." Emilia turned to her friend. "No but it felt weird when he refused to acknowledge me and more importantly what is doing here instead of preparing for the party!"
"Well the bills aren't gonna get paid themselves!"
"Yes but at the cost of missing RonCorr's party? THE RonCorr's party, are you kidding me?"
"Look here," Seon Hul finished a slice of her pizza; "Everybody's point of view of the world, people and priorities vary from people to people. Individuals like us who don't have to worry for bills may not be the same for the ones who never attend any kind of parties in their life. No offense meant Emily, I just wanted to make you understand. That's all."
Emilia appreciates how out of all the people she knows Seon Hul is always so direct at her words and speaks without beating the bush or feigning pretense. But sometimes, it sounds rude from her side. The rest of the meal passed in silence.
Before the girls exited the store, Emilia found herself approaching the counter again. Her tutor looked at her underneath his cap; "You want to o-order something else?"
"Will it be on the house?" She asked slyly.
"Um I-I'm sorry...I.."
"Gosh Sanders! I am just kidding! Relax. Are you really not coming to RonCorr's party?"
"Uh no...as you can see I am working..."
"Oh okay. Would've appreciated if you would've turned up. Bye."
Emilia caught up with her friend who was waiting outside for her not before clicking a photo of the home delivery services details while her tutor wasn't looking.
Appreciated my presence?
What are we, friends?
Rio thought sourly as he completed his duty in the cash register and moved to the back of the kitchen.
However, few hours later Rio regretted taking up this particular pizza delivery order as he stood in front of a massive music booming mansion.
