It was a pretty nice night out. The moon shone its light towards the earth, the stars decorated the sky with what's left of its dying flame, the wind rustling the trees. Bits of snow still linger on the ground where we camped. The only source of heat nearby were our own bodies and a small campfire I scrapped from dry branches. My brown coat hung over my back, covering most of my body as a blanket would. We had some warm stale vegetable soup that I managed to rummage from our scraps of supply. I was still grateful for this meal but my luggage, as usual, didn't share the same view.

I ignored her statement. I wished to see some sort of artificial light so we could find some decent shelter and some decent food that she can then somehow destroy nonchalantly.

"Why don't we have any meat supply?" She asked.

"Vegetables last longer," I put it simply.

"How about your ram? He looks like he has a lot of meat, he may be tough to chew on but he's still meat nonetheless," she suggested.
The thought of giving up my trusty mountain stead for some simple meal repulsed me especially if the one who's going to enjoy him is this wretched witch. I gulped down the last drop of my somewhat nutritious soup and glared at her eyes, she wasn't fazed at all. This only disturbed me more.

"Then who's going to carry your heavy ass may I ask? I don't see any ice carriages around here, or do you intend to make one? Complete with two icy-cold steads that magically come to life?" I told her complete with hand gestures that show how she is going to make the carriage.

She tapped her chin, taking my sarcasm seriously as a way of getting back at me, "Nope, no can do."

I sighed and shook my head. The conversation died then, we went to our respectful sleeping bags made of cheap cow leather. It's not much but at least it'll keep us warm through the night. The fire died down as I began to fall asleep. It wasn't long before I woke up that night, or maybe it was actually long, I don't know. What I do know was that the witch wasn't in her bag. I panicked and jetted through my belongings, nothing was missing. I scanned the area for my ram, he was still sleeping. But I noticed something far back from the ram, a silhouette. The figure was sitting down on an overgrown tree root. The tree was there standing alone on a cliff, its leaves were magnificently plenty, a sight that I managed to miss when setting camp.

I approached the figure, hoping it was her. As I stepped in closer she spoke softly, "Wonderful night out."

I stood behind her on her right, I enjoyed the surrounding scenery. It let my heart fall with ease. The village where we brawled was in sight thanks to its warm distant light. Life was still in cycle in that village. I looked past beyond that and saw a great ice lake where we took a short water break. And beyond that was the mountains. Something stroke me as odd, the mountain lights were that of a different color. When I was there it was a shade of red and blue, a bit purple perhaps. Now, now it was green. I don't know if it had something to do with her being here or not.

"I love the aurora, a shame I can't really enjoy it everyday," she told me.

"What are you talking about? It's going to be there forev-," I stopped the sentence. I had just realized what she meant. Her destiny was written in stone, nothing can change it. I felt kind of bad for her. It wasn't often that I see her depressed like this, but I think anyone would be depressed knowing what lies ahead of them. It was her gift and curse. It may sound corny but it's the truth.

"Hey, it's still a long way before that happens you know," I tried comforting her.

"Are you warming up to me? Ha! And I thought you were a block of ice, but yeah it's a long way. It'll come, but before that I'm going to enjoy everyday of this. Plus I have a butler now so everything's taken care off I suppose," she cheerfully said, standing up with a hop. Her change in attitude inspires me but it also scares me at the same time.

I took her seat and stared off unto the open for a little while before going back to my bed. People are better off not knowing her and the mechanism of our world.

Also it's the 23rd of December where I live and it's my birthday. So far it has been pretty good, spent half the day on a plane and in an airport but all is well. I'm cutting it short now before this derails into a blog. Thanks for reading folks. I hope I can become more active in writing again.
