Once, a dove was shot from the air.

It’s feathers fell,

As it twisted through the air;

The stars were nowhere to be seen

The dove exiled itself from its flock,

Despite their numerous encounters.

Through embarrassment or passion,

It searched for something that wasn’t there.

When the dove jumped back to it’s flock,

It was welcomed with open arms.

The flock proudly upheld the dove,

Even through protest,

And championed its wounds.

For they lifted the dove,

Back into the clouds,

Back towards the sea.

Where there were more eyes to be seen.

Back towards the island,

Where the were more adventures to be had.

And when the dove arrived, they watched.

Meticulously studying the other doves,

As they fell, with shimmers, and were lifted once again.

The dove watched as the birds loved it,

So the dove jumped,

Their still falling

Waiting to reach the ground.

They’re watching the stars,

As their feathers glide while they twist through the air.

They can’t wait to do it all again.

Maybe one day they’ll never hit the ground,

and they’ll continuously fall.

The dove shimmered deep inside at that thought.

While they fell.
