The thing is, if my dear Amelia wrote this, she would be bound to lie to some of the things that has happened on our little wayward journey. Some things she didn't know-to her benefit of course. I would never keep anything important from her!
Okay maybe a few things.
My name is Angelo Contento. Amelia's Supernatural Best Friend. I can just hear the groans now... Anyways! It all began on her sixteenth birthday when the "magic" started.
Amelia was never a flashy girl. She was content to being on the sidelines and watching everything unfold. Her mother and sister... not so much. Get where I'm going? No? Well they threw a huge party and invited everyone they could, even people that Amelia didn't know. Ella's werewolf boyfriends, Zach and Jones, were not content with this nor was the girls' father-a mundane bank accountant that was completely unaware that his wife had sold her soul for her daughters to have a Bestseller Young Adult book life.
The party had started an hour ago and Amelia and I were holed up in her room, pouring over my abuela's spell-books. Well, correction. I was pouring over the books as Amelia's eyes would burn out of her skull if she ever read my abuela's books. She was researching demons.
"You could have another year." I pointed out. She shot me a glare.
"Zach showed up on Ella's sixteenth birthday."
"Maybe yours will be fashionably late?" I suggested stretching. Reading ancient spells wasn't easy work especially with loud music coming from downstairs. I glanced around, slightly hoping an answer would be on the ceiling. It has happened to me before.
Amelia's room was like her-plain and small. The only light on was the lamp in case I did find a 'My madre is insane and sold her soul to give me two extremely hot supernatural boyfriends to fight to the death for me. Help!' spell. The curtain was closed so Mr.HSB couldn't see her through the window and break through it like a certain werewolf. The room was painted a nature green for secret number one. Guess. No? Amelia is half-fae. How? I didn't know at the moment. I can only sense other supernaturals. I know I look like an ass for not telling her right away but in my defense, if a Creature didn't know what they were or accepted their heritage they were just a pinch safer.
Amelia sighed and turned away from her laptop rubbing her eyes. She hadn't slept for days. She was convinced if she slept, Mr. HSB would find her faster. Which was true. "The dreams are getting stronger Angelo. I daydream about them sometimes." That made my skin tingle.
"He's in town then."
"What?!" she screamed, face contorted into horror. "Can you pinpoint him or something?" I shook my head.
"Not unless I know him very well or have something that belongs to him." I supplied her with a sympathetic smile. I did understand why she wanted nothing to do with the Creature world. It was absolute shit. But I was jealous. Here she was. A Halfing that never had to leave home in order to evade a group of hunters that wanted to kill you and your family. Never had to hid her powers from the mundanes in school or else. Never had to bury your feelings for a mundane and screw up the balance. Yet her life was such a complicated mess because she had to pick between two guys that were destined to love her no matter what? I get the danger part of it but that's just daily life as a Creature.
She sighed a bit too dramatically for my taste. "Damnit..." she groaned. The door busted open then to revel her sister's HSB that never did stand a chance.
"Are you two done yet?"
