Characters: Phantom, Christine
Place: Her Majesties Royal Opera (Dungeon – Phantom’s lair)
Christine lies unconscious in a cosy dark bed while the Phantom (half covered by a mask) is seated in a chair and watches in silence Christine.
Christine awakes and wonders where she is and who he is. The Phantom answers her questions through riddles that confuses her. Telling how it inspired by her voice and talent and then through time grew more. Yet remembering there was a similar occurrence like this only at a different place and time.
Christine listens carefully and is afraid of the Phantom for she sees him for the first time. She slowly recalls by the sound of his soft and mesmerizing voice that it is her angel of music. Soon she has the courage to remove his mask. Quick-witted the Phantom conceals his face with his hands and cries out in agony and cursing. Christine cringes and makes space from him. In wild fury the Phantom grips her close to his face and tells her that now she can never be free and will never see her friend Raoul again. “Feast your eyes on this horrid nightmare-like face!” Suddenly he blinks as if awaken from a trance and draws back in fear and shame, mentions that he is all alone without Christine and another friend. Has endured many hardships and now through Christine he can get a piece of heaven, he confesses his love to her that developed through singing lessons. Assuring that he will never hurt her and it makes him sad to see her sad too. Slowly and sorrowful she hands him the mask back. She apologizes for her curiosity and rude manner, she should have asked.
After a short moment of silence the Phantom ties to Christine’s wrist a charmed bracelet in a slight brutish manner that frightens Christine to silence, reminding that he is always here and there for her. He shortly suggests bringing her back to her room before the others notice her absence.685Please respect copyright.PENANAjX3r83s926
