Hello readers,
This time last week, I was checking back onto Penana for the first time in months and feeling very afraid about who was still active here, who would stop by my works and have a read. The past week, I've been focusing a lot on my personal writing and uploading new works to the profile. I've been doing OK, having finished writing my first poetry collection of 2019, as well as an ongoing work since October 2017. It feels great to finally have the word 'completed' written underneath them!
The website where I used to upload a lot of my writing to (Tablo), is pretty much dead. I've had zero responses to my requests for reads and feedback. In just a few days, I've already overtaken the number of reads I had on my novel Letters To Myself across both Wattpad and Tablo. It's still been tricky, trying to reach out and ask readers for feedback. So far, something's not quite working out but I would love to get someone to come along and comment on a work I've written.
Writing is a challenge for just about anyone, I was out of the game for a while. University life is still pretty stressful and my moods chop and change as fast as the current British weather is at the moment. I really just want life to get better but right now, it feels very hopeless. Having writing as a personal outlet is great as I can try and distract myself for a little while and not feel too alone.
I'm working on the following projects:
- Kiss Me Quick which is a story written in verse form. I started writing this before Christmas last year and have yet to finish it.
- The Depression Diaries which is a personal memoir about my struggles with depression.
I am slowly planning these following projects:
- Lionheart which I really wanted to write last year but sadly didn't happen!
- A romance story which as for now is untitled. Well, it does have a title but I'm not the biggest fan of it. I would like to post this to Penana at some stage.
I've been entering in the writing competitions, so if you see me around then there's a strong chance that it was due to one of these running. If you see me, feel free to say hello and support my works!
