Hi readers.
Wow. That’s all I can truly say about this decade so far. To go from one life filled with laughter, travels and happy memories to then being told to stay at home and streets falling silent... it’s a lot to take in. The current situation in England is rumours are around everywhere about a potential second lockdown due to the surging numbers in new cases of Covid-19. If I was scared the first time, then I’ll be petrified the second time around.
I haven’t written much creatively over the summer. I sort of lost the will to focus on anything story or poetry related. Instead, I focused on distance learning studies and ended up passing a few online courses in history and business. It’s always a great feeling to get that certificate after all your hard work and say that you did something productive and knowledgeable.
I turned 22 in July, yet it wasn’t as exciting as I had hoped the day would be. Even though I had a good time with family at home and opening presents, something felt missing. It was the joy of being able to go out anywhere for the day (or week away) and explore new locations and take lots of photos to keep forever.
My return to writing has been very slow. I recently got a new mobile phone which means I can type a lot easier than on my previous device which was both slow and fiddly. I have been silently popping in from time to time here on Penana just to check that everything is fine and that the site is still active and filled with writers, old and new alike.
My aim is to finish up all my incomplete projects before uploading new content. This will mean that I will look at my works and decide if any that have been left are generally ones that I still feel some sort of connection to and would like to work on. If not, they will be deleted from my Penana page.
If you would like to follow me and see what books I’ve been reading, I’m back on Instagram under my handle alicetiedthebookishknot. I did take some time away from social media for personal reasons, however, I would still like to be present here and on Instagram in particular.
Stay safe, happy writing and see you all again for a new update at some stage!
Alice x
