We continued to walk around the school and made our way over to the girl's dorm hallway. I wasn't sure why Ms. Riverstein was taking me through the girl's dorm until she walked over to a room and knocked on the door. I stood there, wondering who Ms. Riverstein was going to see.
"Come in!" The female voice said.
Both me and Ms. Riverstein walked into the room and I saw a chick sitting on her bed with a book in her hand. She had black hair with red tips at the end and she was wearing huge hipster glasses and had a couple piercings on her face. She looked pretty cool in my book and looked friendly.
"Hello, Kira. Are you busy?" Ms. Riverstein asked.
Kira shook her head as she sat up in her bed.
"No, ma'am. What can I do for you?" She asked.
"Well, this is Riley McCaw. He's starting here today."
"Oh." Kira smiled as she looked over to me then she stood up and walked over to me.
"Hey. I'm Kira Collins. Nice to meet you." She said.
I nodded. "Likewise."
"Kira, are you going to any classes in a few minutes?" Ms. Riverstein asked.
Kira looked at her and shook her head. "No, ma'am. My classes don't start till later."
Ms. Riverstein nodded. "Good because I have to get back to the office so I was hoping if you'll like to show Riley around?"
"Oh. Of course! I'd be happy to." Kira said then looked at me with a smile.
I smiled back.
"Thank you, Kira. I need to head out now and Riley, welcome again to Sorin Academy." Ms. Riverstein said then left the room.
I watched her leave before turning back to Kira. We're at least the same height.
"Shall we take the tour?" She asked.
I nodded then the both of us left her room.
Kira showed me around the school. She showed me where everything is like the bathrooms and the library, stuff like that. Finally, we reached the classrooms.
"Do you have your schedule with you?" She asked.
I nodded then pulled it out of my pocket and handed it to her. I watched Kira look it over then she smiled brightly before looking at me.
"This is great. We have a lot of classes together. I can help you in any of them if you get stuck."
I smiled. "Thanks for the offer. I'd love some help."
Kira nodded then handed me my schedule back before glancing at the watch on her wrist.
"We've been walking around for awhile. It's best that you go back to your room and unpack before classes start."
I nodded then looked at my own watch.
"Classes sure do run late like night classes." I noted.
"Well, this IS a night school after all. Vampires are more active at night, you know so all the classes at this school runs from six pm to three am." She explained.
My eyes widen. "Till three am?" I repeated.
Normal human high schools last for eight hours. The classes here last for ten hours. That means we get an extra two hours of learning. How...stressful.
"Each student gets two hours of independent studying. I think humans call it study hall? Anyways, during those two hours, you're pretty much free to do whatever you want as long as you don't cause a ruckus and interrupt other students from their learning."
I slowly nodded, trying to take everything in.
So, that's where the extra two hours come from, I thought.
"So, does this mean that your free time is right now?" I asked.
Kira nodded. "Sadly, yes. I get free time before lunch and my classes don't normally start till eight."
I nodded. "Ah. I see. So wait, does that mean your free period starts before your actual classes do?"
Kira nodded again. "Yes. I want to change it, though till at least after lunch and after I went through a couple classes. Your free period doesn't start till after lunch which is totally lucky of you." She said, smiling.
Man. This is definitely a lot to take in. I might need to write down some notes so I don't forget any of this important information. Vampire high school is definitely way different than human high school.
"Anyways, your classes start soon like mines do so you better hurry up and unpack before you get bombarded with homework on your first day."
I playfully groaned and rolled my eyes. "I get homework already on the first day?"
Kira nodded. "Sadly, yes. Each student does when they first enroll here, but do not worry. I will help you out as much as I can."
I smiled at Kira. I'm really glad I met someone as helpful as her. If I didn't, i'm not sure how I will be able to survive this school.
