Trailer Dialogue
"I have a dream, I dream that riches and silk and potteries will come through lines of camels, and they will rest in the motels, drinking goat milk and fruits and meat as they told their adventures and treasures and mystery. I dream that books and knowledge will come from Greece and the Oriental, and scholars will study it and re-write it in our language so that my sons and daughters can learn the greatness of our fore-bearers, and their flaws. I dream that one day, Christ and Muhammad will both sit side by side in Jerusalem and bless her prosperity. I dream that in the dust of sands, a fortress will merge from the oasis, and within all that, lays the Great Sultan.
Gameplay
The Sultan is a game concept that based on another game named ARTe: Mecenas, where players must support art and literacy aside from normal tradings, and normal management games. Thus you can expect a management game handling construction, trading, diplomacy, literature and science with military and other issues as toppings.
As the game is set tune around the silk road era, thus the game will heavily base on trading and finance. The player can select which trading parties they want to trade with or pass through, yet unlike most games which have a ranking system showing the trustful of the NPC, the player can only decide based on past history and their dialogues (to find if there are any problems). Of course, the player can also decide not to rely on trading as their income but through sheer military invasions and pledge villages, however, it will decrease neighbours' trust and prepare a counter-attack. They can also try to build some industry like clothing or meat or tea so they could rely less on the outside.
Apart from trading, researching science and translating literature is also part of the core gameplay. Players should read between the lines in order to decide what technology or knowledge they'll give. Some may bring totally different outcomes, for example, some may try to turn stone into gold and invent gunpowder. These accidents should be historically accurate, so players can search the answers themselves. Highly developed science can unlock different building and production while translating different literature can increase citizens' knowledge and change their view of prospective or even increase their productivity.
Last but not least, relationships (diplomacy) is an important factor of the game. Players should maintain a balanced relationship between different factions. These relationships include Religion, Nomads, different countries etc. These relations if handle badly may lead to war or assassination or even public execution, at the same time if overly helping one faction will make them think you're afraid of them, forcing you to make worse deals. The relations can be changed by completing different kinds of quests, frequent trading/gifts, dialogues and policies.
Modes and Countries (Factions)
There are three modes and four countries players can select from.
The modes are Campaign (which will mention later), Historical and Sandbox. Historical means the believes first impressions are fixed. For example, in Historical gender equality is non-exist and women rights are heavily suppressed. Players can still improve their rights but will face heavy obstacles especially religion. Also, most historical events will take place during historic gameplay, for example, the crusaders or the black death. Overall, historic mode will allow players experience the harsh reality of history but also allow them to make their own decisions.
Sandbox mode allows players to control the background settings, which gives them more freedom. Also, huge historical events will not happen. Also, cheat codes can be allowed.
Aside from modes, countries/factions also play a major role in the decisions players made as citizens believe, resources, landscape etc. are vastly different. The four factions are Middle East, China, Europe and Africa. The Middle East is an Islamic region with little women rights and heavily rely on water resources and will suffer in sandstorms, yet has a rich trading system and many scholar's support. Europe is a Christian region with either little or better women rights also (as the time will either set during the medieval times where most smart women are burned as witches or as the Renaissance and women rights become better.), however, there are many nearby factions to handle so diplomacy will be players' first concern. China has vast resource and manpower and women rights are low in the upper class, yet will constantly get attacked by nearby tribes. Lastly, Africa will be a region combining local religion and Islamic religion with better women rights (in which many could be educated and could have equal status as men).
Campaigns
For now, I want to put Campaigns as side course of the game rather than the main dish (something like Age of Empires 2). The aim of the game is to mimic a similar situation of history and let players experience its harsh reality and the reward after hard works.
Firstly, the European Campaign will use the crusader and the colonial period as the background. in the crusader campaigns, the player will be a landlord of a trading city that suffers greatly because of the ongoing war. They have to maintain the income and still contribute supplies and army to the crusader while prepare defense to ensure they're prepared for any Muslims' invasion. And the Rena campaign will be you trying to expand your region into a sea trading centre and stand against the East India company or other dominated trading companies.
Please be notice the European campaign should be a relatively small campaign than others as this game is called the Sultan.
The Middle East Campaign will be relatively larger/ largest featuring the situation after Muhammad died and left a newborn country, the Crusader period (featuring Richard Lionheart mostly), and the golden period where scholars will come and share their knowledge.
The China Campaign described the situation of a border city which manages the flow of silk road while constantly protecting itself from nearby tribes and enemies.
Last but not least, the African campaign takes the Mali empire as the blueprint and describe the rise and fall of the empire including the famous pilgrimage of Mansa Musa.
Paid Downloadable Content
The following two paid DLC will be hugely different from the base game even though using similar mechanics, it requires some effort so I assume it is difficult to make it free.
The first DLC will be "Modern and Ruins", it will set tune after the conflicts between the middle east has finally settled down and middle east nations starting to rebuild from their ashes and ruins. With this long-coming yet fragile peace, players must maintain a good relationship with superpowers, nearby countries and minorities. This DLC requires making diplomacy a bit more complex, adding some content and changing the texture of buildings (maybe the sizes also), new technologies added is also mandatory.
The second one will be much more difficult, name "Fantasy Dreams", introducing different new mythical creatures like fairies and dwarfs. This not only requires making diplomacy much complicated, new technologies, contents. When players have reached a certain level of respect for other species they may also receive new buildings like airships and mechanical buildings.
This two content is only my opinion, I found them thrilly interesting as well the base game, thus putting them as DLC.

Please notice even I do not claim this idea as mine nor I currently have no interest on taking actions if anyone "stole" it, I hope if anyone finds this interesting and want to expand it please do not take it without notifying me.
